Good CMS for very simple site
Where to begin...
I am starting a website for our girl scout leaders. It's main function is to organize a calendar with events local in our unit and through council, a forum for general info and talk regarding product sales, finances, events, etc and of course, off topic It would also be nice to do some file hosting (pdf and word, excel, and powerpoint documents). We also want a gallery to host pictures. We also want to host subdomains for troops -- if they want them (we did start one for my troop to try it out) We would like to be able to have a webmail but if not, I can settle for establishing emails for eveyone to use via outlook/outlook express. Umm, checked out almost all of the CMS listed at http://www.opensourcecms.com and most of them seem overkill. I know basic html (that I taught myself in notepad), I have touched php and css a couple years ago and caught on to editing, but not coding it myself. What I have done so far Loaded and established a SMF forum. I liked the calendar and the interface and the price It seemed to have a good secure environment. As for the rest, I am open to suggestions because... well, I am too tired of looking and I've looked at so many in the past 48-72 hrs, that they are basically running together and I can't figure out my bookmarks anymore. Anyway, HELP?? ![]() |

No one has any opinions?
I'm just looking for a couple suggestions to download and try. Not looking for someone to take the project over. |

well, i was going to suggest Liferay, but it may also be an "overkill" ... Liferay is not just a CMS, but also a web portal engine (like My Yahoo, My MSN). completely free ...
anyways, which CMS are you leaning towards? |

mambo is what seems to be popular on the smf forum, but it looks like it can do way more than what I need and would end up bloat.
I have also looked at CMS made easy, site frame, xoops, and peeked at everything that had a demo at the above mentioned site. revil, I will check out wordpress. Thanks ![]() |
