Windows 2000 Server acting funny since 7/27/05?
If your Windows 2000 Server is acting funny since 7/27/05 and presents any of the following symptoms, the problem might be something you would never have imagined. All signs point to a virus/worm or spyware, but you can't find anything, right?
Symantec Autoprotect disables itself randomly Cannot navigate to the Windows Update page, can by IP Address, but it crashes when it tries to scan for updates The Windows Installer service does not start, and any applications that use the service don't install (i.e. MS Antispyware) Symantec AV Corporate does not push updated definitions to clients (Clients stuck at 7/27/05) Check to see if you have APC Powerchute 6.x installed. This is likely causing your problem. Remove it or upgrade to 7.x and your problem should be solved. http://nam-en.apc.com/cgi-bin/nam_en...p?p_faqid=7202 The Microsoft Knowledge Base article that you wish you found a week ago -- http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555386/en-us Last edited by nishantp : 08-24-2005 at 11:04 AM. |
