MySpace Passes eBay, AOL and Google as the Third Most Page Viewed Site Online

MySpace Passes eBay, AOL and Google as the Third Most Page Viewed Site Online

Friday November 18, 8:06 pm ET
With More Than 37 Million Members, MySpace Is One of the Top Three Sites on the Internet With Yahoo and MSN

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 18, 2005--In just two years, MySpace.com, the leading lifestyle portal, has surpassed eBay, AOL and Google to become the third ranked web domain in terms of page views, according to comScore Media Metrix(a). MySpace, a place where people put their lives online and connect and communicate around common interests, had more than 11.5 billion page views last month alone and continues to grow by an average of 150,000 new members daily.

"Our users come to MySpace to manage their everyday lives, from staying in touch with friends, to discovering new trends and entertainment," said Chris DeWolfe, chief executive officer, MySpace.com. "Now advertisers and the business community are eager to see where we'll go and we have plenty of content announcements and expansion plans coming down the pipeline that are sure to exceed the expectations of both our users and partners."

Recently named by AdWeek as the "third hottest web destination online," MySpace had more than 24 million unique users for the month of October(a) and targets a core demographic of 16-34 year olds, according to Nielsen//NetRatings.

"MySpace has evolved the way people are communicating online and 37 million people have already created their own communities," said Tom Anderson, president, MySpace.com. "The site's impact on users is undeniable, and it's been exciting to watch MySpace's cultural impact on our users' lives."

The site maintains its unique and authentic user experience by consistently delivering original entertainment content that members can both create and discover. More than 660,000 bands have created profiles, uploaded music, listed tour dates and connected with fans on MySpace. Earlier this week, MySpace announced that it is streaming never-before-heard confessions from Madonna for her latest album, "Confessions on a Dancefloor," and the company also released its first album, "MySpace Records Compilation CD: Volume I."

Myspace blows ass. I hate that site so much. Too many teenie boppers are on that site every day all day. Ugh.

It surpassed the other sites because kids have more free time to play and they're the ones that go to MySpace.

i have a myspace, and it makes me mad. i swear, that tom guy runs that server on a p2 with 32mb of ram. the only time i can ever go on is in the middle of the night, when no one else is on. tom always makes up these bogus errors to try and keep people off, like "your account has been disabled for 15 minutes due to excessive log in attempts." all you have to do is press ok again, and you're in.
tom is so dumb lol

It only made the pass because you have to refresh the page 6 or 7 times to get MySpace to work right.

Myspace doesn't own any of the servers that host its site. And there are about two full racks full of servers. There are just that many people visiting it.
