wireless camera question

is it possible to have a wireless camera looking out of my peephole record when there is motion for say more than 5 seconds.

My doorknob just got peanut buttered again by some punks.

thanks

(yes i should install one of those doorknobs that shocks people when they touch it)

You could try putting out a sign that says the door is being monitored by cloed-circuit camera, even though it is not....might stop them?

I bought this software called Digi-watcher a few years back that begins recording when it detects motion using my webcam. I suppose if you got a wireless camera that could be hooked up to your computer you can get screenshots and/or small .avi movies from using Digi-Watcher.

Just hook a car battery up to the handle on the inside. That'll teach em.

Or better yet, rig up an elaborate system with a tripwire and a bucket of cold water. So when they walk on your porch they get dumped on.

In all seriousness though, my Logitech Quickcam Chat has some software that allows me to turn it into a "motion sensor", but it's not wireless and definately not small.

Are there any windows that allow a view of your porch? Or are we talking like a hallway in an apartment complex?

hallway in apartment complex. they did most of the handles in the hall way. I have tv tuner cards in my computer i was going to hook up the wireless reciever to one of those and then try and rig it to record when it senses motion.

People are stupid thats all i have to say.

Possibly a stupid idea, record using an mpeg-4 codec. Set the minimum key frame rate really high and the compression will kinda work to keep the file size down. It shouldn't be too hard to review that much footage if you speed it up like 10X or something.
