I NEVER give my gmail address to anybody except friends, so I haven't gotten a single spam since I first signed up. Starting about a week ago, I've been getting wierd spam mails, all with a wierd gif pic attached with text about some company that's gonna become big. I asked my roommate and he got the same thing.
Anybody else get these? |

Dictionary spam... These are spam hosts which connect to GMail's inbound SMTP port (as well as those of any popular email provider) and try a huge list of user names in the hope of "getting lucky" and hitting one which works, whereupon it can be spammed and sold to other spammers.

Ya, I usually get about 2 gmail spams a day... and those are the usual viagra/prescription drugs ones. Considerably better than any other provider I have though, where I average anywhere from 5-20 a day.

I get a spam that makes it to the inbox about 1x every couple of weeks, if that. I generally get between 5-15 a day total.
