I can relate to that. For the past 6 weeks, I have been training new hire techs. The same thing, day in and day out. Today, I went in, no new class (woohoo!). But they needed training manuals updated, re-written, submitted, and done again after they are shot down.
I am sitting in a room with no windows. With no outside stimulation. No external email (of course the computers in the room are not connected to the network!) Training isn't even my job!! But I have been told the position will be opening up soon and that by 'volunteering' will help me get that position. How come when someone asks you to do something different at work to break the monotony, and you say 'sure' cuz there has to be something better it is 'volunteering'? And when you want to RUN away, they give you guilt? Work sucks. |

I've been sitting in the office for 2 months straight with absolutely nothing to do. I'm a consultant; and I've been unstaffed since starting this job...that's basically what unstaffed consultants do - nothing. I spend my days mixing drinks, visiting the bathroom, shopping, and taking long lunches. I am in desperate need of work.

That's what I'm doing at work too. I'm in-between projects right now. I've been killing a lot of time by reading about things I've always wanted to learn about on the net. It's cool cus I'm getting paid for it too. I don't mind being a slacker for about another week

I feel ya, ugly...
I was un-utilized for the first time last week for two days, and I almost lost my mind. That was the first time since I started, and I'll tell you, I HATED it. You sit on your ass, checking Gotapex oh, every 12 seconds, and hope to god someone gives you a quick-hit project.
On the other hand, I'm being shipped to Houston on Sunday for a 4 day on, 4 day off project for 8 weeks or so, to there's another extreme... ![]() |

Work sucks again
Well, I asked for it. I am not assisting the training dept. anymore.
We are in a 'roll out'. The software(s) we at work support sucks. I am not a programer, but OMG this sucks! We released new versions of the software. 3 major shipping softwares all released at the same. Pissed off shippers calling... (sorry if you are a pissed off shipper). At 2nd level we have about 40 of us. We also have about 25 assists (cool, good, techs from 1st level) and when I left work we had roughly 150 customers waiting for us to call them back. And a call wait at 1st level of about 20 minutes I think the highest I saw was 25 calls waiting for one product. No end to this... the queue will be there for prob another week or two. The damn thing is corrupting the database in every perverse way. Losing shipping history and removing the address book flags to locking the customer from shipping due to 'phantom' billing info that has to be transmitted to our host. Communications is totally F@cked. It is actually locking the systems up... Developers tell us there is no DOS in our software but for some reason, WINOLDAP is not responding and that is DOS related. The link software we had in older software was 16-bit, I am betting my small paycheck.... Oh and the kicker... the first thing the software does is check the system for the required components. Does this through a configuration profile.ini... (LOL) This has messed up so many systems!!! (I am going mad!) For some reason, when the software does this, desktop crashes, or it misreports information (hd space and memory), or, the best yet, takes the whole system down. (eula to the rescue!) Do I really have to go to work tomorrow? My supervisor wants me to go in early... I am already staying 2 hrs late.. I guess it would help with Christmas... AAARRRRGGGGG!!!!! ![]() |
