I think it really sucks that some people who have been here for ages think that new people are here to *invade* their little world..its really sad. and I think its pretty petty in general..is this high school? ps..I guess that FREEDOM OF SPEECH amendment only applies to SOME around here right?

First off, are you really ignorant enough to believe that freedom of speech applies to a place that is under private ownership...such as this website? I know that Apex hasn't stepped in, and if/when he does, his vote will be for peace, rather than either side of this argument, but I'm just saying that if you really believe that you can say "freedom of speech" and suddenly everyone will back down...you're dumber than i thought. If Freedom of Speech applied universally, IP banning from any website would be illegal...BUT IT ISN'T.
I don't care how lame or cliquish you believe this web page is, but the way that you stepped in and decided to use the website as your personal messageboard is very lame. I'm 100% certain that you aand your entourage all have e-mail addresses, and I know that at least you have AIM...SO USE IT. When you have messages for two people, THAT YOU KNEW BEFORE YOU SWITCHED TO THIS BOARD, just e-mail them or ICQ them! It's not that difficult a concept. When you have something you want everyone on the board to know, and it will be helpful or humorous (not in the "oh my god...that's pathetic" way) to all of them...then go ahead and post away. Got|Apex was herebefore you came...and it was better. Just think before you're so damn, for lack of a better word, annoying.
If you think it's only "some people who have been here for ages" that are annoyed with all of this crap, why did a few non-1000+ers jump on the wagon? It's not because I'm annoyed at all newbies. It's because I'm (i'm not going to speak for anyone else right now because i don't want to get anyone else in any trouble or turn out to be wrong about what i say) annoyed with YOU.

I may not have been here since the beginning. I may not have a lot of posts. I do visit the Got|Apex boards multiple times everyday. I have noticed that in the past month or so, there has been a steady increase in the number of personal threads in the OT forum. It's getting more difficult to figure out which topics are directed at everyone and which are just there because someone wants to up their number of posts by talking to their friends.

So there's my take. I doubt anyone really cares, but I thought I'd share. Maybe the situation will settle itself down and calm will return to the forums.

does it make things acceptable just because you warn people in advance? i certainly don't think so. if i warned you in advance that i was going to pour noxious barrels of skunk/musk rat urine over the fence into your back yard would it make it okay? i know that that is a slight exaggeration, but basically you are pouring tons of annoying useless posts into a place that we like to frequent.

ps - You tried to use freedom of speech as an excuse to for the way that you've been posting, which proves that you're certainly naive, if not mentally retarded. That's almost as bad as claiming that the freedom of information act means that i have to post up my e-mail passwords and credit card numbers just so that everyone can know what they are. That fits the bill for ignorance, if not flat-out stupidity...

1) I believe that it is unfair to accuse ProMinx and other long time members of feeling that they have been “invaded” by new users. The impression that I receive is that they generally enjoy interacting with the new people and sharing their knowledge. The problem is that a few members are artificially inflating their post counters by posting what should be in a private chat to the forums. The post counter is supposed to reflect the contributions of the individual to the forums, not inflate someone’s sense of self worth.

2) ProMinx I don’t believe you should have called oblongmellons mentally retarded. It should be beneath you. Just because someone is obnoxious, rude, ignorant, annoying, inconsiderate and petty doesn’t mean you should stoop to name-calling. Take and hold the high ground.

Does anyone else thing this is juvenile? Let me give an example:

In St. Louis, we've gotten about 30,000 bosnian immigrants in the past decade. In their infinite wisdom, the geniuses that run this hellhole decided to keep them all tightly knit in their own little groups. As a result, the bosnians are very reluctant to cling to the native culture and are too proud to become part of the melting pot. Now these Bosnians do things that may be acceptable over in the meditarranean, but it's certainly not acceptable here. Many of these immigrants have become a burden on the economy and the welfare system, and immigration services, by law and by politics, has to protect them. What's even worse is the whites and blacks are equally as intolerant. It's real sad.

The point is, there are parts of the city that are going to hell because people don't want to change their habits to what's socially acceptable. And people that do know what's socially acceptable would rather make enemies instead of neighbors.
