Woot=Big Brother

Today Woot had a really crummy item. I observed, in their forum, very many responses within the first 15 minutes. None were terrible responses, they were all along the lines of this being a crummy Woot, appropiate language was used in these comments, after all I thought they encouraged comments. All of a sudden, most of the posts were gone, awhile later a fraction of the responses were restored, but they were mostly upbeat or joking type responses. I saw one comment that said something like "holy deletion" and that too was edited out. As an experiment, hours later, I made another comment about the item, a few hours later that comment was deleted. I agree with deleting certain types of posts as is done in this forum, but they were picking and choosing what they wanted to be made public. I am sorry to see that they have such a tight hand on their forums, it takes the fun out of it, I had respected their site until I observed this manipulation.

NOT Big Brother - Just Selective Editing

As a Woot shopper, I HATE going through three pages of "Cr@ppy item" or "Where's the BOC" posts. I thought today's stuff sucked too, but I didn't waste anyone's time with my opinion.

If I had some personal experience with said cr@ppy item, then I would have posted a comment and would expect it to remain.

I think the Woot forum mods try to weed out the useless replies, as there are so many that just want to make stupid "First Page!" posts, etc. I've had a few of my comments make the "posts of interest" list at the top of the first page.

Yep I seem to remember seeing that posted at one point. The posts are supposed to be somewhat useful. Not just "Worst Woot Ever" and the like.

They have been deleting and I think even banning the idiots with the "first page" or "first post" stuff for some time as well.

I am not a big poster there, only had 4 posts and I thought I contributed a worthwhile comment, yet they deleted it along with other comments, some good and some bad comments. I don't think I would waste time contributing there if they delete my effort.
