How do you keep your DVD/CD program disks organized?

I have a bunch of disks I have burned, bought, came with hardware and so on. How do you store them for easy finding when you need one of them?
I have shelves of them: some in hard cases, paper covers, disk cases, and so forth.
Like Windows XP which I have 3 plus copies of: there is one in a large folder, and then I have 2 copies that came in a shipping cardboard envelope. These were replacements or OEM units! And that's just of XP. Then there is Windows 2000, 98,ME, and 95.
Thought I ask how you try and keep them all organized? I have tried and right now my kitchen table is full of disks.
I'm like WTH to do now to keep some kind of sanity.
I want to keep games, driver, OS, office programs, and music all semi-easy to find.

I'm also asking is there a program you know of that will keep track of software you own?

Any help guys I'm sure I'm not alone with this problem!

confused.. is this suckage or not-so-suckage?

Anyhoo, mine are stuffed randomly into a few of the boxes that retail versions come in and stacked on the book case. Not really organized at all, I guess.

I chuck them right into the trash if they're driver CDs or anything else that I can download.

OS & app CDs go into a CD folder I have for just that very purpose. I there's a serial number to keep track of, I just write it on the CD with a sharpie.

I keep all of my relevant program disks in a soft bound Case Logic disk holder.

It holds about 100 disks... and for those that require a special serial code, I either cut out the paper on the original sleeve and put that in the poly sleeve with the disk, or if possible I write it with a Sharpie onto the disk for later usage.

Pretty much this keeps all of my disks in one place.
