Batteries banned from planes now
next they be banning us to one pair of underware on a flight and it have to be packed in a zip lock clear baggie !
WASHINGTON - To help reduce the risk of fires, air travelers will no longer be able to pack loose lithium batteries in checked luggage beginning Jan. 1, the Transportation Department said Friday. ADVERTISEMENT Passengers can still check baggage with lithium batteries if they are installed in electronic devices, such as cameras, cell phones and laptop computers. If packed in plastic bags, batteries may be in carryon baggage. The limit is two batteries per passenger. The ban affects shipments of non-rechargeable lithium batteries, such as those made by Energizer Holdings Inc. and Procter & Gamble Co.'s Duracell brand. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071228/...tteries_travel

Before bording the plane you must jump backwards through a flaming hoop naked while reciting the alphabet with your mouth full of chicken noodle soup.

K
so I have Audie with a cell phone and both Mikey and Audie have a DS. they are flying back from Oakland to Reno Friday. What about the DS? From the sounds of it, the phone will have to be taken apart and the battery in a zippy. The DS????? They do not check luggage. What about the DS? |

This is just for those with spare batteries -- not the ones included in devices. The DS as well as the phone would be just fine (just don't use the phone of course).

Yeah I don't think this will impact many people. They prohibit a certain amount of lithium on check-ins and it's all about spare batteries. All batteries in devices are ok. I think on the TSA webpage they have an example of what exceeds the limit. For lithium ion batteries, we're talking about large batteries for DSLR cameras that professionals use. Unless you bring like 15 laptop batteries and stick them in your luggage, you're ok. |

Famous last words. First it's this, then it's that, and each time it gets a little bigger... soon enough we're all naked and jumping through flaming hoops with mouths full of chicken noodle soup and trying to sing the alphabet. Facism never shows up overnight. It sneaks up on you little by little. |

That is actually funny b/c I had about 40+ batteries in my luggage when I came back from the East coast yesterday. I put the dead batteries in my checked luggage because I intended to stop in at Best Buy (fyi: Best Buy recycles batteries) on my way to the airport before I flew out for my Christmas vacation. I forgot to stop at Best Buy, so I put the batteries in a side pouch on one of my pieces of checked luggage. Well, while I was on the East coast I forgot about the batteries and then I realized they were in my bag when I got back to HI yesterday.

Hold up there folks. I don't think we got the full story from yahoo news. (They're known for bad reporting.)

Thanks for providing us with the real policy! Yahoo is pretty poor at reporting news.
