UPS sux... sorta. (stuff happens)

Well today, I received a shipment of a product I ordered for my aquarium off of eBay.

I bought a 40 gallon wet/dry sump filter for my 265 gallon tank. This sump was a cell cast acrylic unit valued at about $300.

Well, I get the sump and start unpacking it... the shipper packed this item very well. Inside the box was all kinds of foam padding with a wood liner protecting the acrylic at the walls of the cardboard box...

However it wasn't enough, as my sump still got cracked from an impact/stress fracture.

So now I have to go through the dance of seeing if UPS will pay for this damage to have a new sump box shipped to me (this thing weighs in at about 60 lbs... so honestly, paying for return shipping is not really a "good option" at this point.)

At least the seller is working with me on this... but it sure does suck that it happened. GRRRRRRR!!!

I've been waiting on this part for almost 2 weeks now... and when I finally get it, it's CRACKED!!! DAYUUUM!!!!!

it has to be the weather. seems like every one of the shipping company. have started to hire animals who just don't care. how they toss shipments now a days.im thinking if the package is not put on a pallet with a steel cage around it. and double package with those air bags. its not going to make it from point A to point B . without some kind of broken carton or worst

You are running a wet dry on your Frontosa tank? Seems like a waste of money since the amount of waste they produce is too much for a wet dry. I would think you would be running a canister with diatoms. (I ran a Magnum 330 on my Cichlids.) As for the crack in the wet dry, get some acrylic cement and it will be watertight. I am in the market for a large sump myself.

C'mon UF.. you should know better than to question my filtration choice.

No, the wet dry is not the ONLY filter on that tank.

That tank currently has a smaller wet/dry on it (one rated for 200 gallons... this new one is rated for 300 gallons) and two Fluval FX5 filters pushing 600 GPH each.

The wet/dry is mainly a bio filter and will be running at 1200 GPH once everything is set up (my current W/D system only runs at 800 GPH...but I'm selling that one after I get the new one set up.

If your tank is 200 gallons or smaller, I can possibly make you a good deal on a complete W/D system
