It can get better right?

So, donnie emailed outprocessing (or whomever) to see why he was still coded "declined orders" - he was refused his promotion test a week and a half ago. He has been waiting for a new date. TX emailed the chick here back who fwd the response to Donnie: He signed it, it stands. Oh, and he still takes the orders!

WTF??

So let's get this straight and all you caught up with a summary...

-We get orders with less than 2 yrs left in to OKC (Tinker AFB)
-He goes to extend - refused because of High Year of Tenure (HYT) and cannot.
-Goes to outprocessing and they say to fill this form out stating you decline the orders because of refusing retention.
-Donnie finds regulation stating that because of HYT, he doesn't need to decline the orders as told, outprocessing says no prob, code will be reversed and form shredded.
- Donnie still has to go - TX states that he only needs 12 mo retention.
- Donnie goes to promotion test and is declined testing because of above code.
- Donnie emails to find out new test date and is informed that code will stand as is and he still has to take the orders.

Does something seem wrong with this?

He is printing out the emails and going to legal tomorrow.

Hope it all gets straitened out soon for you guys, chrissy. I wish you luck. I remember how sucky it was at times when my father was in the AF. But I loved every minute of it. Just wish I could have gone in.

Thanks guys. He did finally get an email last Thursday that the code would be dropped. BUT outbound here still hasn't done anything about it.

His shirt and Chief are "on the case"

We kinda still want to fight the orders, just because they are wrong - he is an exception to the regulations and they are bending regs to make them fit his situation. But we really just want to get moving done and over with. Donnie is going to housing to get us on the list there- hopefully there will be something there. When I called last week they did say that Apr 4th there would be a 1200 sqft 4bd apartment available. It's smaller than what we are in now, but at least it's something that we can afford on what they will give us for BAH. She mentioned 4 other units are becoming available in May - hopefully they are larger and we can have a choice of one of them.

I am also looking at the school situation. I HATE the middle school we are zoned for here. And Mikey would have gone there next year - and while moving is screwing Audrey, it's better for Mikey (hopefully) and a new beginning for him. And he needs something. He's so quiet and... I dunno, passive. He needs to get involved in something and stick to it. Maybe when we get there, he will find something.

Thanks for listening to me rant

Sure! It can get better... not!

So, Donnie was playing (I use that term lightly) golf this morning so I meet him at the course for lunch.

We get a phone call from houseing.

The military has stopped moving people into the houses- and this includes us- until MID MAY.

I have boxes in my living room, kitchen, garage, the kid's rooms and my room.

I am so tired

:

I don't want to fight anymore. I am exhausted. I just want to go and fight a new fight - not being able to afford to live on the economy in OKC.

It's a never ending battle for us and I am so tired of sounding pestimistic - because I am far from that! I am tired of sounding tired, tired of sounding b!tchy, tired of the stress, just blah...

When I was stationed at Lowry (Denver CO), I was told that the housing we were living in were going to be renovated. I already had orders to my next assignment, so I tried to get an early reporting date authorized. That didn't happen. So I got to move into the other housing. What pissed me off is that when I left, they hadn't even started working on the other housing. So I got to move for no reason and lived out of boxes for less than two months. It would've probably been cheaper to move my stuff to the new assignment, and live in temporary housing for the remainder of the time (since they had to move my stuff twice).

I've been retired since 1 August 2001, and I don't miss it at all. You just need to hold out for a while longer. I'm sure you and Donnie will be much happier in a couple years when he's retired. It will get better.

Thanks Beachgirl. We LOVE the military, don't get me wrong. It just gets frustrating with the hurry up and wait crap.

Hoser, I think that is what we will end up doing. With his RNLTD 20 May 08, and we have heard nothing on the extention to keep the kids here for school, we will probably just let them pack from here and cancel the DITY from here to the new house. Of course, we will wait until last minute to do that because God knows as soon as we would change that, the orders would be canceled or we would be told the move is on again.

When I meet someone who is serving or has served in the military, I make a point to thank them for their service.
