We've had a few threats today. In fact, we're under a severe thunderstorm warning right now. The system is moving just to the north of me.

We lost power yesterday at about 5PM - still waiting for it to come back on as of 7:30am. I still have power at work (thank goodness...?) so I can at least get some stuff done here.

We didn't lose any trees but lots of people did around here. It was a very short storm (maybe 30 minutes or so) but it was crazy how intense it was.

By the way, my homeowners' insurance paid for new vinyl siding on my house last year after hail had damaged the 35-year-old aluminum siding that was on my house.

One advantage of when there is a pattern of damage is that the insurance companies know about it and (in my experience) will accept claims much more readily. That's what happened with the hail damage in our area. I would say about one of every three houses was getting repairs (siding and/or roof).

Well, you have net access so I hope that that's a sign of generally safer conditions. Sucks about the tree though.

got with insurance company on phone today .tomorrow i hope to have a claim no.and file started tomorrow.
weird how things happen .not one chair on the deck got broken. the glass top table the legs were trashed but the glass top made it in one piece. and the wire for the deck lighting sliced the wood 4x4 corner post but the thin wire was not broken there .its so odd how thing happen .
i know i have a $500 deductable not sure how this will turn out.
i know a lot about insurances claims.but not in my case were its a neighbors tree and the root system is still in there yard. i have heard my deductible is waved. because part of the tree is still in her yard and her company has to pay deductible .but if true im a happy camper.
anyway i loss 2 american flags ,the glass table ,the deck swing, some plants and pots ,the corner of the deck, deck lighting ,damaged to roof very minor ,gutter and bent up aluminum trim around the window in the bedroom.

im guessing around 3-4 grand with tree removal all toll .as the whole deck will have to be recovered to match and taken apart to repair damages.

drove around a 1-2 mile area around my home today. it is like being in a war zone. made me think my little loss of a deck is nothing. there was one home were the 2 or 3 car garage was tossed on top of the 2 story home and the yard looked like it had a box of tooth picks exploded in the yard. didn't have my camera with me but i may go back out later with it. this will take a while for all to be back to normal in my town . there is still around 100.000 homes without power in just my county. the reports say maybe by sunday most will have power restored . news reporters are still taking pictures and making major reports on the storm that hit sunday .

Wow, I'm not too far from Reno (maybe 10 miles) & we didn't get it nearly that bad. Some trees fell & we were without power for about 36 hours, but that was the worst of it.

Hey, reno! You got a fireplace? Look at the bright side, after the insurance takes care of the porch, look at all that firewood. All you need is a chainsaw and a splitter. What is that? 1 1/2 to 2 cords?
