NSS: Shout out to Creative!!
I got my first credit card last week (call it a suckage or not so suckage heh) and my celebratory purchase was the 8 GB Creative Zen with the 2.5 inch screen. Big daddy dropped me off at home last night, and apparently I dropped the player on our driveway. It enjoyed the fruits of the huge storms, and this morning about 20 minutes ago the UPS guy rings our doorbell with it in his hand. First, I admired that, because I know a lot of people would have just walked away with it. I had been looking for it all night, and even checked outside, but never saw it. I heard the conversation at the door between him and my mom, and though "Oh well, it was nice while it lasted (less than a week, heh) when I got it, it was sopped. I pulled out the SD card, and water came out from the inside when I tilted it. Against my better judgment, I tested it while it was still wet, and it powered on right away as if nothing happened. Needless to say, I was impressed, but happier to not have wasted 130 bucks

I was wondering if it had turned up. I still would advise shutting it down and letting it dry out thoroughly. A good drying can help a lot (even on things such as cell phones
).

I had a pager that went through the clothes washer and dryer. It worked fine, all warm and toasty with the rest of the laundry.
It's great when portable electronics can stand the abuse like that...

Keep an eye on it, it may start acting weird after a while. Also check your credit card benefits. Some cards have wild "features", like automatic warranty extensions of the stuff you buy with the card. I've not heard of a card that offers accidental damage coverage, but it wouldn't surprise me.
American Express gave me a refund for the full purchase price of a TV that broke out of warranty. They didn't need to see the TV or have it sent to them, they just took my word that it was broken and put a credit on my account.
