Angry S: Lost My Temper At Safeway Line Cutter.

I was at Safeway in a short line to checkout. I was up next and this lady walks up and says excuse me. I thought she was with the guy ahead of me. Nope. She just blatantly cut in line. I'm like wtf and the cashier was like wtf. The cashier asked did she know someone was in front of her and the lady said no she was in line because she had one item on the floor. The cashier told her no that she can't do that. The lady says she does it all the time. The cashier said she doesn't have to check her out and she's being rude. The lady tells the cashier that's she's being rude. So I speak up and said no you're being rude. She starts mouthing off to the cashier. So after she paid I walked around the lady and took her groceries and threw it to the ground. Sigh...a poor gallon of milk was busted. Then the security guy came and said sir that was unnecessary. He went to get another gallon of milk. The lady looked at me and asked why did I do that and told me to get her another gallon. F**k her...get it her own damn self. So I check out while this lady calls whoever. I apologize to the security guard while the lady just talks on her cell. I feel bad because the Safeway employees have to clean up the mess I made because I lost my temper. I'm sure the lady was afraid I'd be waiting for her outside or calling the police to get me.

Ugh...mad at myself but I hate that lady's whole indignant attitude like she did nothing wrong and she can mouth off to anyone without repercussions. She'll probably won't stop her bad behavior but I hoped I made her wet herself and give her pause next time she tries it again.

I know I should just have just let it go but I was just so irked at her audacity. I would have been just at mad myself I guess if I didn't do anything. Ugh. Was I that wrong? Should I let karma handle it or for evil to win good has to do nothing?

Sounds to me like you handled it pretty well. You would think that the woman would have given up having you and the cashier telling her she was in the wrong.
This sounds like a prime example of the 'all about me' attitude I see so much these days. I'm surprised she didn't have a cell phone stuck to her face.

i had a very similar situation the other week, though I didn't throw her milk, she WAS on the cell phone and acted like I was invisible, was extremely rude and I left rather angry, though the checker was nice to me.

Oddly enough, exactly 4 days later i'm in the same store with only a couple of items, and then lady in front of me said, "you go right ahead of me, you only have a few things" and I was gobsmacked at the nice lady. I figure I achieved some sort of universal balance.

i think if the milk didn't bust open, it wouldn't have been an over reaction. tho, i personally think one can achieve something without getting physical with the other person. She was def wrong, and being really irrational. imo you weren't more "wrong" then she was, but there could have been another way of dealing with the situation. your temper did show through in a minute way, but the cutter was def a dumbarse and deserved it.

Yeah, I say good that you did that. I probably wouldn't have done the groceries on the floor thing, but my mouth would have gotten me in worse trouble.

Maybe the woman will think again before she tries that and perhaps ask if one doesn't mind if she steps out of line for a second, (which, by the way, is irritating when people get into a checkout line before they even finish their shopping, then they hold up the line while they run for other items).

would have been better if you opened up the milk and took a drink.

Next time, pay for her groceries and take it home. That way she has to go shopping all over again

I would have been PO'ed too and I probably would have given her a piece of my mind. IMHO mcs only went overboard because it was milk and it broke causing the people at the store to clean it up. I wish it was a loaf of bread or something not breakable.

LMAO! That is the best solution! Better yet, purchase them and then walk over to the service desk and immediately return the stuff for a refund!

You weren't that wrong. She was completely wrong. You didn't hurt anyone so that's good both legally and just in general. It is a bummer that you injured some innocent groceries but there were few actions that would get her attention and not cause harm to anyone. And that was one of them.
When i Have an item or two i stand in line with everyone else. Sometimes if the person in front of me has an entire cart, they will let me go first and i'll say thank you a few times cause it's really cool of them. But i never ask for it or try and slide by them. First come, first served.
It wasn't great what you did, but, i'd have most likely applauded you had i been there.

I think throwing her groceries on the ground was going a bit too far.

I don't often use the "express line" anyways- the customers seem to be slower than the one who use the other lines. Unless the express fairly short or the others all have large orders.

I myself am not an aggressive person, but sometimes I am glad to hear stories like this so that I know that jerks don't do those things again, because let's face it, we've all wanted to do this
I find that my only anger problem is when I am driving. I like to be defensive and go easy on the gas tank, and like to wait in line rather than cutting everyone else off so I can gain a few car lengths. Every now and then I purposely act as if I'm going to let in one of those people that like to cut everyone else off, and then speed up, just to feel like I've done my justice. Heh, can't say I've thrown groceries though, but kudos to you.

it may have been too far, but if i was there i would have applauded you.

after throwing down the groceries and she asked why, you should have said you do it all the time
