i get a call from the wife today the well keeps running in the basement. i get home in a hurry and fine the well is running and lost its prime. i been working on it for like 2-3 hours now trying to get it to reprime if i dont in a little while i have to call in a pro. were on a old 2 inch well and all the beople around me have had there wells updated to a 5 or 6 inch so something tells me im going to have to drop about $5000 into having a new well drilled to. Bummer, sorry to hear. Does that mean that your well is flooding, or just running?

yaa spoke to the well guy yesterday and today his brother. i be getting a new well -but not till the 4 th due to the holidays as 1/2 there team is on vacation in Florida.
full rundown of what i have done to try and get water running again. replaced all the plumbing pipe from the well outside to the pump in my basement. i replaced the check valve twice .my luck the first one i bought and installed was defective. only could happen to me. also replaced the pressure gage as it was not reading right or at all.was stuck at 15 lbs.anyway had the wife help me and got the pump primed again after hours of trying.anyway can't get the system to build up enough pressure it max's out at 20 psi while running and 10 psi when off. it has to build up to around 30 psi to turn off the pump. right now what im doing is plugging in the pump as i need water .lets say to flush the crapper or wash dish's . there no way to take a shower or any major water use.
im thinking the well point is clogged or the casing of the well is cracked. ether way is not good news and means a new well to be drilled at $12 a foot min of 100 feet plus parts == about $4000 - $5000

$12 a foot? Can you rent the equipment and drill it yourself?

Any chance that the problem is with your pump?

We replaced the tip on our well at hour hunting club and found someone who did something called a 'sand point' that only cost $500... not sure if that's an option for your situation, but it beat the heck out of drilling a brand new well for 5k.

Back from my days of living in Florida (where everyone has a well to use to water their lawn), I remember some stories of a guy putting the barrel of a shotgun down the well pipe, stuffing some rags around it, then blasting out the screen at the bottom of the pipe. It was supposed to clear things right up....

well will be drilled tomorrow. glad well guy was here when Miss
Dig arrived as it turned out right were the well was going to be drilled the gas line just happen to be laying .im not talking near it layed right were he wanted to sink it .if he had drilled there in the first 2 ft of drilling he would of had a real blast. it going to be interesting seeing how much of a improvement in water pressure i get taking a shower after the chiorine is cleared out of the system. so i have to wait a min of a day to take a shower.

You're going to look like Kramer did when he installed that monster shower head.

got a question for my well guy today. i didn't think to ask him and the paper work dosn't say if i need a 220 or 110 power supply for the new pump .my old well pump was 110 volt. if its 220 volt i'll be running to home depot in the morning and having to buy a spool of wire and a new circuit breaker this morning.
anyway they had to drill the 80 feet . so i get a credit of $240 and im thinking i loose that due to fact he had to move the well closer to the road. in turn he has to dig a longer trench and use more materal to plumb it back into the house now.

Renovation has begun the curse of the failing wells. I was just informed that they need to drill a new well for me as well. I am going to insist that it goes to 100 ft this time rather than 40 ft. I think the water table dropped at my house due to the amount of residences and commercial properties on well water.

The good news....its covered under my new home warranty!
