s: concussion

i am so mad today!

last week i got a new snowboard, and i've been dying to try it out. so i go last night, and the conditions are really great, which is such a surprise cause it nj in march, but whatever. there is no ice, and the mountain is pretty much empty. so i'm crusin' along on my new board, getting used to it, cause it is so different then the one i used to ride. and i'm having a jolly 'ol time.

anyway, i'm all the way at the bottom of the mountain, like, 200 yards from the end of the trail / start of the lift, and some ass comes FLYING into me. and it totally took me off guard, cause i was traversing on my heelside, and he hit me from behind. plus the fact that i was going pretty fast, as was the dope who flew into me. so lucky me winds up with a concussion. and i'm sooooooooooooooooooo pissed, because i can't go again this weekend, and the season is almost over!

ahh! i've been snowboarding for 7 freakin years, and i've never had a concussion!! i broke my ankle once, but thats another story. i am so mad!!!!!!!!!!!!

Come on man, I apologized on the slope didnt I? I yelled on your right, how was I supposed to know that you wouldnt move?

Seriously, now, I feel your pain, but at least you made it to the mountain. I have had three concussions thus far, and all three of them were received as I was about to head up to go boarding or skiing for the weekend. The one was right after a bad storm in 1994 when all I did was go to check my mail before I was supposed to leave for the weekend. I walked out my front door, got about 20 feet on the path when I decided to check if gravity was still functioning. My feet reached all the way up to where my head should be, as my head hit the snow/ice/stones of the ground. I was laying there unconscious for a bit and then when I came to, realized that I was freezing my butt off (i was in a short sleeve shirt just to run out to the mailbox) I went to stand up slowly to get back inside. I make it about three feet, when sure enough, I repeat the same F*cking move, and get knocked out cold. This time, someone in my house saw it, and came running out and dragged me inside. I had to have a damn Cat Scan and some other imaging work done of my head. I had a double concussion! I was down for about three or four days, and the only reason I didnt have to stay at the hospital is my dad is a doctor, so with that assurity, they let me go home. The other times were just similar idiotic things, whereby I was about to leave and I somehow ate it hard. I have now decided that i am jinxed when it comes to going to the mountain, but I am going to try my luck again in a few weeks. Maybe I will make it this time.

That said, I feel your pain.
