Last Sunday I met my mother for the first time since I was too young to remember. I am 26 now, and I think the last time I saw her was when I was about 3 or so. It was actually a pretty good experience....I thought that I would feel weird about it, but after the first few minutes, things went smoothly. She lives in Italy, and I plan on flying out there sometime this year for a longer visit....I am really looking forward to checking out a little bit of Europe (I have only been to Norway so far).

just remember that the person who raised you is your mother (if you're father is the only person who has raised you then he is both your mother and your father in one so you should get him something on both mother's day and father's day).
the lady whom you just met is the person who gave birth to you and (if I read correctly) the lady who was around for about 3 years after your birth. that doesn't qualify for being a "mom". your "mom" may be a stepmom you were fortunate enough to have come into your life or your "mom" may actually also be your dad too (he may have been the one filling both parental shoes).

either way I hope that you give credit where it is due and do not give credit where it was not earned.- the person who did his homework should get the "A" not the person who ditched class. Don't allow yourself to get too swept up in the moment to remember what is right...

INeedAVacation, I agree with most of what you say, but I must disagree slightly with the words above.

Bringing up a person for 20+ years is certainly something worth giving major credit for, but don't forget, NEVER forget, NEVER EVER EVER forget!!!! Without your biological mother, you would NEVER have made it into this world. Many people today seem to easily forget this fact. I'm not just saying this to people who were adopted or have stepmoms and such. This goes for everyone. Just look around you and notice how many people treat they're parents like **** and don't give the appropriate respect. Just think carefully once. Imagine not ever being born at all. And THEN, after that, give credit where it is due. I'm happy for you Black Francis. Like mojo said, mothers are the best. And you have two!!

birth is a nice thing...a VERY nice thing to be given, yes, i don't disagree with that. but the individuals who deserves more are the people who were actually there for what happened AFTER the birth. If someone gave birth to you and then left and no one stepped in, you would die.
Point is that, yes, your birth mother gave birth to you but if she leaves, it is whomever takes over for her who CONTINUED to give you life.
you should be respectful of your birth mother that she choose to give birth to you.
but you should give much more respect to your "real" parents who gave you life after you were born. if not for those people you wouldn't be here either.

- He does not have two moms;
If he thought this way his "real" mom, the lady who has raised him and who has actually done the "job" of "mom" could be very hurt and with good reason.- How insensitive and wrong to put her into the same category as the lady who abandoned him when he was only 3! The lady who gave birth to him is the lady who gave birth to him, the lady who raised him is his "mom".

I have not forgotten who raised me, and I never will. I love my mom very much, and will never forget that she treated me like her own child. I never considered her a stepmother, and I never will. However, my birthmother has been trying to get to know me over the past few years, and up until recently, I have been pretty reluctant to let her do so. I have now decided that I would like to get to know her, but I am going to take it one day at a time. I will always have a mom and a Robyn.

P.S. Thanks for all the kind words
