NSS - Best Buy around the corner!!

In the last month, my little village (Westwood) has seen the addition of both a Best Buy (just today) and a Ralph's (both about 2 blocks from my Apartment). This is a godsend for those of us without cars in college, although I am SERIOUSLY debating purchasing a motorcycle for general transportation.

ps - I already bought a DVD (the old Lord of the Rings cartoon), a Game (Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2), and a strategy guide (Anarchy Online). This recent addition is going to empty my bank account rather quickly, but I've got 600 dollars of disposable income before I'm paid again on the 1st... I might go back tomorrow foor a DiamondMax 60 GB HD (159 -10% with a free $50 Gift Card).

One opened close to me yesterday. I bought two games - Star Trek Dominion Wars and Command & Conquer: Yuri's Revenge - both 50% off. Also got a 4-pack of NiMH AA batteries and 19-pack of 80mm CD-R/W disks.

The employees were nice enough and also told me that they're not on commission. I don't know it well enough to call it Beast Buy yet - this was my first time in one, though I certainly expect product knowledge to be about like CompUSA, which is to say pretty low.

Get ready to here this a lot as they are required to tell that to every customer. After a while it's pretty annoying.

Lord all mighty... When BB opened here, every fricken' person in a blue shirt made sure to tell me that at least twice. Got pretty annoying after the millionth time. But I think tehy tell them to settle down a while after they open. I haevnt heard it from anybody for as long as I can remember...

FYI - Best Buy employees are not on a traditional commission, but they are paid for the amount they sell. The way it works is they get paid hourly but if the store does a certain volume of sales, they get a bonus. THe higher the sales, the larger the bonus. So....if they sell you more expensive things, they get closer to their bonus and its the same as commission.

Uhhh no. As someone that worked there for about 9 months I can assure you that there are no bonuses for meeting a certain goal, atleast not for hourly employees.

Well that is weird because I know a bunch of people who work and worked there, and they all said the same thing. They worked in three different stores. They told me that it was the official policy and they even tried to "recruit" a person who worked with me at Good Guys.

Well the supervisor of a department does recieve a bonus if their department happens to lead the district in sales but other than that no other hourly employee recives anything. There is no way to track who sold what because the system is not setup that way.
