ouch! That sucks the big one! I'm sorta scared too. They announced our financial report for the last 3 months and it wasn't very good. I better figure out a backup plan.:upset:

hang in there

Layoffs suck - and I hate to be around when they walk them out. Awful.

Ours is coming - I work at a (ahem) large computer company being bought out by another larger company, unless the deal unravels, so I think my longevity is really limited. I'll be making that walk soon enough.

It was awful. People I really liked, all gone. I'm not trying to get sympathy, I know (I guess?) I'm still fortunate to HAVE a job, but I miss them already. The place looks like a morgue today. Walking past offices that are bare, lights out... ugh.

Today is going to suck. Thanks for letting me vent...

Hey, southernbelle, I used to work for a large computer company that was aqcuired by the large computer company that may be acquired by another large company. In other words, I'm an ex-DECie. I walked out with my box in mid-94.

ouch, yeah, buyouts suck. They usually use that as an excuse to lay everyone off and restructure the company. Wish it didn't have to be that way.

sorry Markel......

Didn't realize you were ex-DEC. My ex was let go in 94 as well. I know this won't make it any better, but you can rest assured it's a real strong case of "what goes around" coming back around with a vengence.........

Recessions suck.

Reminds me of a bumper sticker I saw a few years ago in downtown Houston. As I am sure you know, Houston was built on big oil, and when that went bust it was ugly. Anyhow, this bumper sticker said "Please god, give us another oil boom and I promise not to p*ss it away this time!"

Yeah, I had about 5 years with DEC (here in the Chicago area, but a number of projects in northern Mass./southern NH, Colorado Springs, and even a few meetings in the northern Dallas area. I had high hopes when I joined (I had "cut my teeth" on DEC hardware in the early 70s), but things certainly didn't last.
