Dialup Blows!

Ok, so when we moved, our dsl was going to take 7-10 days to get transferred, right?

Well, it's already been 5 days and I found out today that it wouldn't get hooked up until probably the 22nd. *sigh* Stupid ****ers.

PLUS, they touted on and on about how they had a dialup backup for when my dsl is down for the transfer. I call the other day to get the dialup set up and it turns out there are no ****ing local access numbers (surprise, surprise

) so I would have to pay per minute or per hour. I said **** that and called one of my local providers and am just paying for a month of access ($20). Just ticks me off.

No, Dopey. I asked them if it would make a difference and they said no. It would take 7-10 days no matter which way I did it, because the only way they could do it was to make me like a new customer anyway.

heh.. im in the process of going through that.. but i couldnt find a modem laying around... and couldnt find any friends that had it right away.. so i went through the week going to friend's houses or using the computer labs at school to access the net.. so since there is no more regular clsas for me, i rushed back home to SF, where there is DSL

for me, i'm going through a third party for my DSL provider instead of my TelCo. I'm goin with Directvdsl. they have to go through pacbell in order to set up my dsl since its pacbell's lines.. that may be the case for you too perhaps? but yeah, they said mine would take about 2 wks to transfer.

Nope, not the case for me.

I'm going straight through my telephone company. Some **** didn't get my cancellation processed right so it didn't automatically sign me up to get turned on here when cancellation happened there. I'm

Do you get a free dsl modem (if the isp gives free dsl modems) if you cancel then reorder versus just transferring the original account?

Me?

Well, our modem was free, with a 12-month contract. If we had cancelled and then signed up again, not only would we have had to start the 12 months over, but we would have either had to give the modem back or pay for a new one. I'm happy with what I have and have 3 of my 12 months done of my contract, so this was the way to go.

Ahhh...oh well. Thought that there might be a way to get another free modem because... you know... FREE is always good

That is why you should go with RoadRunner... Cable internet is awsome, same day set up here in wisconsin!!!

OMG, you haven't heard my RoadRunner cable crap?? I had that. It sucked donkey ballz. lol (I'd say blew chunks, but I don't want to lure hoey in here.

Anyway, I was being disconnected for 1-2 minutes about 5-6 times a day. Not a huge deal but when I'm working, it's frustrating. Plus, in the evening, it would slow down to worse than dialup speeds. *sigh*

I have been ecstatic with my dsl the last couple of months. Only 1 outage and that was because there were storms (read: tornadoes) around.

Well that sucks, I havent had anyproblems with speed or disconections yet.. and ive had rr for almost a year now!
