verizon phone service

dude, i didn't know until today how much my apmt's been getting charged just for basic phone service and DSL. the DSL is $60/month and the phone service (after taxes) is roughly $27/month. i thought my phone bill was just $10/month and DSL @ $50/month. grr. at least when i move, we get cable modem and don't need to friggin phone line.

I have two land lines and the prices are insane per month. Road Runner would be a lot cheaper in the long run.

I think it's almost impossible to get a phone bill to be $10/month unless you are on a measured or LifeLine service. I have an extra line I use to receive faxes (never used to dial out). The bill for that line always comes out over $10. Usually between $15-20. It's because of all the fees and taxes they charge. Truly Suckage.

Personally, I wouldn't really want to have a land line anymore. Its not worth it really. They charge you for having a line, then they charge you what they call "local tolls" This is a big deal if you're in the LA area. Calling within your 310 area is like 5 cents a minute. Might as well call another city or state for that much.
That's why I have cellphone, I can call anywhere with it. And my DSL is split between me and my roommate. He can keep his land line.

Heh. Verizon can kiss my...

We had a land line and DSL at our old house. We moved to a new house very near a hospital, large company, and into an area with all new equipment to support them. Verzizon assured me that DSL was NO problem, since everything was new in our area.

3 months later, I was ready for therapy. One week, I'd call and be told everything was fine, and my DSL was delayed, but on order. The next, I'd be told it was impossible to get DSL in my location for one of a total of 6 different reasons. Back and forth. A new answer every time I called. For three months. Yes, no, yes, no.

Finally, I gave up. Cancelled the DSL order, and cancelled the land line out of pure spite.

We got an unlimited minutes cell phone package, and a cable modem. And we've never looked back. Long distance in state is free, which saves me a pile of cash (wife calls her mother a lot). Internet is just as fast, if slightly less stable. But I can deal with that.

Saves me almost $100 a month between the two versus Verizon, and I don't have to deal with Verizon ever again. They'll never get another dollar from me.

Verizon cell phone service is starting to suck too. For some reason I get dropped calls a lot more than b4.

verizon sux!
when i first go my dsl from verizon it worked for one day.
for the 1st month it worked for less than a week total.
they kept saying it was a problem on my side but i didnt change anything on my side. their own tech came out and told my my side was fine. i kept calling them and sometimes after they did something it would start right up. 15 minutes to get an op, 15 minutes to turn off modem and computer turn on modem when all green turn on puter etc etc. i used to do all the steps while waiting on a operator.
i even got hung up on by some !@#@# for raising my voice, not yelling.
now everything is fine but i won't choose verizon again.
