SS: Burgler
I was in Houston visiting my parents for a few days. My condo got robbed while I was gone. I'm renting one of the rooms out to a friend. They climbed to the balcony (i'm on the 2nd story) and kicked the door in. Stole my Playstation 2 and my friends brand new Home Theater Receiver. They stole some money and only the REMOTE to my TV but not my tv (wtf, bastards want me to walk to change channels). Anyways, I hurried from Houston to Austin to check it out. Sucks. It seemed to be a "nice" robber as he didn't mess the place up. He left my computer here, all 4 of them. Gladly my laptop was with me along with my digicam. Investigator got some prints and they said they were good prints and that if the person had a record we'd probalby know who it was. Anyways, bastards for stealing from a college student, we're poor enough as it is!

At least he didnt destroy the place. I guess that would be about the only upside to your story.

No one was hurt, the place wasn't trashed, TV remotes are replaceable for under $20, no data was lost, computers weren't touched, no personal treasures were lost (pictures, hand crafted items made by somone dear and now deceased, etc.), they got prints, and the robber was probably interupted so he didn't get much.
Most likely it was a neighborhood kid. Probably mid to late teens. Hope you have insurance... |

that sucks!
when my friend was away at school, her condo got robbed as well.... but they knew that where they lived was always getting robbed (because it was all college kids, and when there was a break no one was around.) so they hid everything valuble. the two funny things about it was they stole the remote control also, but no tv. they couldn't find it. and one of her roomates just locked everything in her room with i think a deadbolt or something. well, they came in through her room so she got cleaned out. i guess that is the problem w/ living in a college community, its obvious when no one is around. |

Yep, that's the one bad thing styleee. I think these people might have been scoping me out because my truck has been here for about the past 2 years. My roommate just moved in so they don't recognize his car, but they entered in the middle of the day right after he left for work. I still can't believe no one saw anything in mid-day. And I don't have renters insurance because I am not renting it. I am not sure if my dad bought property insurance for the place though. I'll have to see

Sorry to hear about that. Thieves suck.
Last time i got robbed they took my stereo, cordless phone, #99 Kings Jersey, cologne , $ and all my rap and r&b cds and left all my KROQ/rock/metal stuff. The rock stuff was under the table but in plain sight. So I call the Alhambra/San Gabriel pd and while calling they say they got a kid in a stolen van with a cordless phone. I get there and sure enough he has my phone in the stolen van. Its some punk kid dressed like a little gangbanger. Cops ask me if I want to have some "words" with him in the back of the patrolcar . The punk lived in the apartments behind us. He and his friends broke into my place than hop'd a couple walls and got the van. He was a 15 yr old German staying here with his mother. One thing about the good ole USA is we dont care about race, we can corrupt anyone .I got most of my stuff back except for the cd's and some other things. Funny thing is not sure exactly what was stolen. The kid gets out and beats his mother for letting the cops come in recover my stuff. He gets shipped back to germany and thats that. He should have played my slick rick cd about what happens to thieves. -jel ![]() |

Well I was burgalarized when I lived in Gainesville, but the only thing they took was my mountain bike. Granted it was a $1500 bike, but then again if they had come in they could have made off with a lot more stuff.
To top it off, I too had been gone only for the weekend but my roommates were both home. The cops figured that they must have either managed to use a ladder without being seen or more probably balcony hopped. I personally always thought it was an inside job since the bike was not visible at all. Never recovered the bike, but my parents homeowners paid for the bike minus the deductible.
