Ok so after much thought and discussion with Mr.Melon over the situation with his health,I decided that this would be the year I relinquished my coaching position for girls softball..I told the city I would hang in for the first few practices and games just to get the new kids acclimated to the game,while they searched for a replacement..the city, in return promised me a QUALIFIED replacement for my coaching spot..and instead have made a mockery of the team that that I worked so hard to bring to the level that they are at..Evidently this is what happened..Tryouts and "picks" were a month ago, I was there-along with my stopwatch,pen and paper,and my good instincts,along with the 11 other coaches from our league..we had a plethura of "little ones" try out this year (the "old girls" that have been on teams stay with their teams the duration of their league runs and don't need to try out)I jotted down the names of 12 or so girls that I thought would fit nicely on the team (there are 3 pair of siblings on the team so immediately three positions were filled)..
Anyway, the coaches all do their picks, each team gets 9 permanant spots filled with their first picks, then the rest go into a lottery of who gets who etc..Ok so I get the nine I think def. belong on the team, (including the 3 siblings) which left 3 spots open for lottery and then the remainder of the girls trying out (late comers etc) to be placed where ever there are less than 17 girls..I ended up with ALOT of new LITTLE kids on the team..
FAST FORWARD

THEY FIND A NEW COACH..two fathers,neither of whom ever coached,played,watched or been involved in city sports,league sports or GIRLS SPORTS before..to make it worse-they have no clue how to play softball..they found them by walking up to them at tryouts and saying-"we need a new coach for such and such a team-will you do it"..the one guy is a 5 foot asswipe with an 'tude like Mt.Rushmore,that would be Jim, and Bob-whom I pleasantly refer to as Baby Huey-(no description needed here)..well jim has taken to NOT showing up for practice, nor 2 of the 3 games the team has had..bob on the other hand has been at practice and has taken to the game nicely-holding practices and accepting help where needed..ALL THE PARENTS of the old girls are pissed because the city did not ask one of them to do the new coaching and I cant blame them..they should have been asked first..anyway, at my last and final game of coaching, Jim shows up with his little italian man sandals (with BUCKLES!) and his bitchy girlfriend who has decided to take right over with the girls while I am still there..this guy KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT SOFTBALL-he totally made a mockery out of the game last night-but because I am stepping down I really couldn't say much to him about his lack of knowledge..the guy didnt even buy a freaking SCOREBOOK..he was going to (get this) "download stuff off the internet"..omg I am like FURIOUS..he pulled my pitcher and put her on first, and put the first basemen in R field, just so he could put his daughter (age 8 and never played before this season) on the pitchers mound..I went BALLISTIC! then he had the nerve to tell the first baseman to get out in the R field and not give him any lip and he was so freakin nasty about it I walked over to him and called him a weasly little disgrace to the team, and i told him that I hoped all the old girls quit on him because he SUCKED ASS. (OK I WAS PISSED HERE)...he turns around and looks at me and says.."I can handle this without you-I think you're job is done now-see ya"..then he proceeds to go out and tell the girls they have 3 outs when they only had 2 and they all run off the field but the old girls who know how to play and keep score..and he looked like a fool! The other team bitched all night because this guy sucks..HE SUCKS ..suckage..blah. I miss my team.

the guy sounds like a COMPLETE moron, and what's even worse is that he feels he has to compensate for his utter stupidity by pretending to be an expert

stupid people.....

it's especially unfortunate when someone like you has worked to help the athletic experience be a positive one for the girls and then someone else has to come in an ruin it all.
