NETFLIX a.k.a. ripoff
I did the 2 week free trial..and canceled on the 10th day. They charged my card and now I have to file a claim with my credit card company in order to have the charge removed. I have called and spent three hours on the phone with a "manager" and had to fax information from myself and have my cc company fax em. They are a rip. If you have had luck with em..God bless ya..this is just my experience.. |

For what it's worth, I never saw how the 2-week trial would work. It takes a few days for the DVDs to arrive then a few days to get them back, and you're still barely making the 2-week interval if you manage to watch the movies in between.
I was a subscriber for about a year and a half and never had a complaint. I dropped my subscription because I didn't have enough time to watch the movies. |

Net Flex Is oK ...
Used them for 6 months. I used walmart search to find the new releases. they dont list them, cause they are backlogged sometimes. Guess not listing them lowers the demand. But I always recieved the new releases within the first week. I did some math, it worked out to be about 2.50 per movie. And then $$$ saved in gas to the video store, I think Netflex is a good deal. When I went on vacation, I changed my mailing address. Mailed them to a friend who enjoyed the servece while I took 3 weeks away for all tv's. ahhh, that i guess is another story.

yeah NETFLIX... whether it's a good deal or a waste of time really depends on two things.
1. First of all, your location. Depending on the whether there is a "hub" (where the software is located) near you, it could take a couple days or up to a week for you to recieve the next disk in your queue. I was in the SF Bay Area and the turnaround time for my movies was always about 3-4 days, which isn't bad. 2. Then of course it depends on whether you have the time to watch the movies you get. I used netflix for about a year when I was in college, and I had enough spare time to watch roughly a movie every other day (more on weekends). So that's about 15-20 movies a month for about 20 bucks (that's how much it was back then). It would have cost me about 5 times that much at Buckbuster Video (approx. $4 a flick plus late fees). It was a good deal for me. I know people who rented them, watched them, AND they ripped the movies to DIVX, so you can really take full advantage of them if you really try. |
