Gonna be heading out to vacation in Jamaica in Dec, woot woot! Time to relax in the nice tropical breezes. At least I can ditch the heat and cold for a week. (Kinda a heat wave atm here in Cali though).

Has anyone been there before? any suggestions on places to check out? I'll be staying near Ocho Rios/Runway Bay area... so any suggestions would be great!

I was there before - it's really amazing. You want to stick to the tourist areas for the most part - there are some not so nice places there.

Dunn's river falls is pretty cool - I think that's in Ocho Rios. There's also some great shopping areas near there. Be sure to bring back some coffee & some rum!

Sorry to burst your bubble Kain9i6, contrary to popular belief the cronic is illegal in Jamaica. So no smoking the hippie lettuce there. But on the other hand, smoking a nice cuban while I'm there is okay. So I'll do that.

never been there.. just know ALOT of jamaicans and they are all about 'da reefer.. (just so you know.. I don't poke smot..) heh.. makes me too paranoid and i'm already too paranoid..

well guess the only reason to go to jamaica is for the hot tourist women and the beaches..

Actually, when I went (as part of a cruise), they warned everyone NOT to try to purchase any drugs, because there are dealers who are pulling a scam with the local police to get money from tourists -

They sell you some drugs, then point you out to a cop who arrests you. You have to pay a hefty fine to get out of jail, & the cop splits part of the fine w/the dealer. Don't know if it's true or not, but that was the warning I got.

Yeah I saw that... lucky for me that Kingston is Southeast corner of Jamaica and I'll be on the North Coast. Ocho Rios/Runway Bay.
