Deals turning into DELL central

I know that dell computers are a good deal. But they are coming up all the time. I appreciate the deals, Apex, but not DELL spam. The deal link should be, "dude, ur gettin a dell" instead of deals.

I do appreciate the one-call, and other hot deals however. I've all but left got-apex because of the Dell spam. may i suggest www.bensbargains.net (an excellent deal page) he has links to the main deal boards (fatwallet, Banandtech, and DVD somethinorother.) and his deals are concise.

whatever tho. hope i dont get banned.

Ever heard of lurkers? You do not need to post (aka waste time) to critiize the deals. And that is quite a valid 'complaint' too, for I know several casual gotapexers that remarked that as well.

I don't post on this forum. I have been here at Apex for a couple years now (even have a t-shirt). Sorry if yo udon't like the post, i was just stating my opinion. maybe they'll move it to the appropriate folder.

It seems that apex is under some affiliate scheme w/ dell. or he spends like 5 hours a day configuring computers. (which would be boring as hell if you don't need one.) Thats all im sayin.

Well duh. We affiliate with all our deal postings. That's how we avoid popup ads and pay pal donations. And my understanding is that those dell deals do well for us, and this time of year people buy PC's.

Any deal site that makes any money at all affiliates with those sites you tend to see posted a lot. We do post deals where we aren't affiliated though, but they don't make money. Asking us not to post dell deals would be asking for a Please Donate button, or a series of x10 ads.

I understand they get boring if you have no intent of buying from Dell - but we gots to pay the bills, and plenty of folks do buy from Dell.

Well, if people would stop buying them, I'm sure we'd stop posting them.

Obviously, there are people out there who like the deals we post or we wouldn't post them. Seriously.

It's not like there are ONLY Dell deals up... Ever...

Sorry you don't like them, but a lot of people do. Contribute deals to us by sending them in or posting them on the forum and maybe you'll see them on the deals page.

It's definitely true we post more dell deals than ever now. In fact, in the last 2 to 3 months (our heaviest Dell postings ever), we've been averaging as much as 13-14% dell deals (one out of every seven or eight deals are from dell).

The reason there is almost an enormous 15%? There are an incredible amount of deals offered by them, and a huge number of people are taking advantage of those deals. In fact, item by item or dollar per dollar, more people are interested in these deals than any other deals we've ever found, including freebies.

We've had this issue back with Mercata (anyone remember them?). We've also had it with the Value America $100 freebie. We've had it with Staples (stackable coupons anyone?). We've had it with PlanetRX and Drugstore. We've had it with Overstock. We've had it with Amazon. We've had it with many other merchants over the past few years.

I cannot tell you the number of emails I got over the years dealing with this. Why do you post so many computer deals? Why do you post so many electronics deals? How come there are so many drugstore deals? How come the weekend deals have so many women's interest deals?

There are a lot of great deals sites out there and I've recommended many of them to viewers who have had interests outside of what we normally post.

Hi, Welcome to the forums.

Feel free to post any deals you can find...it's not as easy as some think! I appreciate the fact that I can come here and not be bombarded with pop-ups, etc. Instead of complaining, we should thank Apex and the others for all the time they spend finding the increasingly scarce deals!

Hehehe, so true! I should have banned my husband from the deals page though, he just bought a 2nd laptop from dell. Why 2 people need 4 computers, I just don't know, lol. Thanks for always keeping me broke Apex!

i'm with you DF... with all their coupons and sales, dell's one of my places to shop for peripherals and other goodies. if apex doesn't post em, how else am i gonna drool over 20" lcd screens that i can probably never afford to buy?

definately not ripping on dell. Being a computer builder myself i never build computers for people anymore because i can rarely beat the price and never beat the service.

and LP, you used to be the main reason i came to the site. reading your rants made my day. But i understand that one can't be funny forever.

I am also frequently checking in for Dell deals. I'm still waiting for the Inspiron 82's to come down a lil' more before I snatch one up.

My next pc might be a dell

I have very little to spend and want to get a lot of bang for a buck. That is the purpose of gotapex.com. Am I right? So when the dell deals come up, i read them. If any any other pc company can come close, post their deals as well.

Hope dell does not become like walmart. Maybe it is to late. But if the price is right, they will get my buck.

Sorry, wasn't really meant to be crass. It's not a secret the site stays in business because of those deals. And Apex is right, it's always something, and always someone complains about us pointing out good deals. I don't understand it. It's not like we hide other deals just for ourselves, or are keeping the really good stuff from you. It's cyclical.

I think I can be of help here. See, my keyboard is pretty special in that it has this magic key called "page down" Now when I see a deal from Dell I press that key and guess what...it goes away and I'm on to the good stuff.

But seriously, I'll never order from Dell thanks to a bad experience I had last year and it does get a little overwhelming. But I sure don't begrudge those who might need those deals. Keep them coming and I'll just pick through for the things I want and for the things I don't want I use my magic key.

And welcome to the board.

if you dont like to "deals" page, go to the "got deals" page, you will find lots of deals from everywhere, maybe you can even post a deal???

there they have threads like "HOT!!blah blah blah from deals page", so you will never miss a hot deal in the got deals forum.

i dont like deals page either, but i love the forums....got deals, need deals, s/nss, etc. doesnt mean i go around complaining about it, like everyone has said so far, a s load of people have bought dell, are going to continue to buy dell, why not get a deal on a dell if your going to buy one? go look up # of pc sales dell has done in the last year, you will see that there is a large group of people looking for best deal on a dell. dell deals on deals page worse than x10 ads? of course not...

this site doesnt pay for itself, lot of people spending money on dells.....

Am i right to say the apex. inc. recieves $$$ for referals to Dell? If i hit their site via apex, that supports this site and bbs, right? I guess finding the deals here supports this site. And if you dont like that ya see, scroll down.

Thanks- Apex for ZERO pop-ups. (i never get one during my entire visit.)

I've bought some items from Dell (mostly hard drives) found on the deals page or deals forum from here. The first item I think I bought after visiting this site was Apex AD-600A DVD player with the hidden menu.

This site has to be paid for by some means. If listing deals from Dell and others pays for everything, it prevents this site from asking for money from it's members. There are only a few sites that I'd be willing to pay for and this would be one of them. Since I spend a lot of time here, I've made this my homepage. If you don't agree with something that this site provides, there's a lot of other sites out there to visit.

and soon i might get a few free palm m125's and digital cameras (once i put in a custom order for one of the dept's)

i guess i don't really understand the complaints.

between the deals page and the got deals forum, there are probably 100+ deals posted per week. i take advantage of anywhere from 0-5 of them each week.

it depends on what i'm looking for. when i was building my computer, i was very happy to see deals for a CD-RW drive and a hard drive. now, i ignore those, because i have no plans to upgrade right now.

when my GF needed a laptop, i was keeping close watch on the dell laptop deals.

when i was building my HT system, i snagged some good speaker deals. now, i don't need HT stuff, so i ignore those deals.

my point is, look at what you need and ignore what you don't need. if there are other good sites, check those out too. personally, i don't need to check other sites because...uh....i don't need to spend any money

I would just like to say that in the last week I have purchased 11 computers/monitors from Dell for my work. Why? Because they are cheap and because they have great customer service, not to mention the warranty. I am very glad to see all the Dell deals on the front page. They have saved us tons of money.

If you are interested in deals that are more your style, go find that site and leave those who are happy with the way things are. There are plenty of them out there. I suggest www.passwird.com.

Keep posting those Dell deals! Apex has made me a hero at work more than once, most recently with the PowerEdge 1400SC server for $430! I wouldn't be surprised if I get a nicer Christmas bonus for that gem...

I agree, Apex has made me a hero with my family. I got my brother and my parents a great deal. Although I don't think it will get me a better Christmas present

Well since my computer has been giving me crap and the cost of buying the parts to "maybe" fix problem is about the same as buying a new Dell for 350...I'm buying a Dell.

I've been building my own computers and upgrading them for a while...but I can't beat a computer that's only 350 including shipping that's more than functional and has a year support. So I'm knuckling under and buying a Dell. Plus I rather the money support and go to a good site aka Got Apex
