Definite NSS: Good Day after a weekend in Hades
I am happy to report that I have had a WONDERFUL day today after a horrible weekend.
On friday, the California bar released the names of successful candidates online. The way you checked to see if you passed or failed was to enter in your applicant and registration numbers...if you passed it listed your name, if you failed it said applicant not found on the pass list. Suffice it to say, that on Friday when I entered in the information, my name was not found. I was crushed...I was certain that I had passed and yet I didnt come up. It had to be one of the worst feelings in the world to fail when you are certain that you passed. I had to call my entire family and tell them I didnt pass, which was really hard. Everyone was sure that I had passsed and so my apparent failure was a real shock. So we went out to drown our sorrows, but I developed a migraine and became physically ill after about 20 minutes at the restaurant...so we went home and I crashed. On Saturday, I was still nursing my wounds and just went out to see Die another Day...I didnt even look at the website that day..I spoke with a bunch of my friends during the day and told them the bad news. Everyone was sympathetic and more than a bit suprised. On Sunday the state released the pass list to the general public. As a result, I logged on and decided to check on a couple of people who I hadnt heard from. One passed, one failed. Since I am a glutton for punishment I decided to enter my name in. This time, I came up as passed. WTF?!?! The list released on Friday exluded me, the list released Sunday listed me by name... they are supposed to be exactly the same. Of course the state bar had a disclaimer on their site that says that its only real when you get your results in the mail. So I now had to wait for the final results to come in...it was a ray of hope when all hope had been eradicated from my body. I had to call people back up and tell them that now, we werent sure if I passed or failed, but it looked like I had actually passed. So now all that was left was waiting for the letter in the mail. Today, I was talking to one of my friends, explaining the entire situation, and just shooting the sh*t since we hadnt spoke for a while. The mail arrived while I was on the phone, so I ran out to get it. Sure enough, there was the letter from the State Bar of California. The Committe of Bar Examiners of the State bar of California is delighted to report that you achieved a passing score on the July 2002 adminstration....... So I went through this weekend thinking I failed...to find a glimmer of hope that I passed....to an affirmation that I really had passed. It was better than winning the lottery and the chances of it were supposedly just a little better than the odds of winning the lottery! By itself this would have been enough to make my day....but there was a knock on the door. When I answered it, it was UPS with a package for me. I hadnt ordered anything and so I was a bit confused. The package was from Dell, whom I have been arguing with for a bit over the replacement system they had given me. Sure enough, I opened up the package and it was an ATI vid card, although there was nothing to tell me which one it was, drivers, nor inforation. I called Dell, and the tech told me that I had received an ATI Radeon 9000 vid card as I had requested...but hadnt been told that it was going to be shipped or allowed. On top of that, the paperwork said that I didnt have to return the card that was in there, which is a GeForce4 440mx. I figure I will probably just sell the Geforce card, the Dell rep even said I should just go onto Dells website reseller area, and sell it there, but I figure I will list it here or ebay it. So I have had one of the best days in a long time, I can finally relax for a moment and focus heavily on finding a permanent position somewhere. ![]()
