My moniter!

I'm so happy I have it back!!!! My friends dad was able to fix it. he had to replace a transistor and a resistor in the power supply... the strange thing is, he replaced the resistor with a fuse...

I dunno. It sounds weird to me. But he works at tektronix and supposedly knows this sh*t. I trust him... and it hasn't blown up yet.

I'm no great electronic genius, but isn't a fuse a resistor by default? That's how it works. The resistance of the fuse is what melts it and breaks the connection when the is too much current.

He probably didn't have the correct resistor handy and just substituted a fuse with similar resistance.

That sounds about right.. Doubt you have much to worry about in the lines of your monitor blowing up..

That's what i thought too. so i asked my friend if the fuse and the resistor held the same resistance. it doesn't. so i think the most that could happen is that i might have to replace a fuse sooner or later. but his my friends dad speculates the only reason they were using a resistor there was to get by some safety laws....
