S: ID10T error- need to reformat
We were having problems reimaging a remote kiosk machine with a ghost imaging cd (from all the way across the country). Well, the cd kept booting the OS to a dos prompt instead of it's software, so the man who created the CD got all upset.
"It SHOULD work," he says boldly. "What should it be doing, I've never seen this done," says I. He responds "I don't either. I'll try one out." So he places it in his own CD drive and reboots the machine. I say, "Wouldn't it be funny if it automatically started reimaging and you lost everything." "I'll stop it in time," he assures me. Instantly, without warning, Ghost pops up and begins it's process. My coworker immediatly reaches for the power button and has to hold it down for 3 seconds. No prompts, no tears, no more hard drive. Ghost is unforgiving. The great equilizer. At least he gets a new image with XP on it. Some guys have all the luck. ![]()
