Cost mesa Best Buy sucks!

The Costa Mesa Best Buy is the worst of the So Cal Best Buys that I have been to. WHen Star Wars Episode II came out Toys R Us had it on sell for $9.99 and Toys R Us being as sucky as they are sold out of widescreen as their employees hid them in the back for themselves. But that's a different story. After Toys R Us I went to the Westminster Best Buy and got the price match (plus free calender). Then an hour later I went to another Best Buy figuring Star Wars would make a great christmas gift for sometone and that this Best Buy woudl Price Match. I go there, find the widescreen and get in line. Costa Mesa's Best buy uses a weak version of the Fry's system. You stand in line until a cashier waves at you. Well I wanted about 45 minutes in like (because they had like two cashiers). THen I showed them the ad and asked for the price match. The Cashier was like "Whoa that is a good price. But I can't give that to you because Toys R Us ran out hours ago." I informed him that I was just at a Toys R Us and they still had DVDs (full Screen). He called his manager and asked him. The Manager looked at me, ripped up my ad and said that he will not be pricematching Toys R Us anymore because they are sold out. I informed him that Westminster Toys still had some and he yelled at me "Well then go to Westminster because I will not honor your request!"

So I went back to the Westminster store and asked customer service if they were honoring the price match. They also informed me that they were not but then they exaplined to me that because Toys R Us was sold out they could no longer price match, but if Toys R Us got in a new shipment they they would honor it. They were nice it. I told them about what happened at Costa Mesa and they bent over backwards to give me all the corporate numbers to file a complaint. THey said they hated the Costa Mesa Store because it was run like morons and that their employees were rude. So I called Corporate and complained and also wrote a letter. In the letter I also complained that I always call the Costa Mesa store's customer service and no one EVER picks up. And when you go to the store they are just sitting on their butts picking their noses.

Well Corporate wrote me back saying they were sorry and the kind of painted Costa Mesa Best Buy as a black sheep.

The Westminster Best Buy is a good one (one of the few I have found) however the only draw back is you need to get a token for the bathroom at that store. But the lines are ok, they have caring employees and great customer service. Why can't all best buys be like that. Even on the refused price match they were nice about it and explained it calmly to me and even called Toys R Us to ask if they had any left in front of me. They made an effort to LOOK like they cared.

But Yeah Best Buy really sucks

I used to live in HB and I totally agree with you.. Granted, I generally hate going to Best Buy unless I want to deal with short bus rejects, but sometimes the sales are just too good to pass up.. Coasta Mesa just sux in general, and their service.. jeez..I got better treatment from the chimp throwing it's poo at me when I went to the zoo (true story) at least it made some kind of attempt to give me something (even though I seriously didn't want it..)

Anyways, if anyone lives down there.. drive the extra 5 miles or so and go to the BB in Westminster.. Well worth the .70 cents in gas..

It sounds as bad as Fry's. I always ignore the "Price-Match" guarantee at any sotre because of this exact reason. They treat you like dirt and IMO it isn't worth the hassle.

Sometimes it isn't that bad. The BB in Westminster pricematches witha smile. When I priced matched Harry Potter for 9.99 the cashier smiled at me and laughed. She told me she had been doing these all day. It just depends. When they do match BB is ok at it. K Mart was a pain in the butt. Never price matched at Fry's..... that customer service line is always so long.....
