S: Theft
I had a package I thought wasn't set out for 10 days. Apparently someone in my condo place signed it under my name when Fed Ex delivered. That's $150 stolen by someone in my condo complex.
So is this a Fed Ex, Credit Card, Condo and/or Police issue? Short of taking out my baseball bat and knocking on each door and start swinging what can I do? Someone signed for it and their are 6 units in my place...so it's not like it was left on my door step. ![]()

Start with FedEx. They were contracted to deliver something to you, they didn't. See what thay have to say about it. Then call your CC company. They will probably tell you to file a police report. FedEx will probably end up replacing the item. But it might take a roundabout way to do it.

FedEx is looking for the courier who delivered it. I printed out the "signature". Yah...it's in print. Way better and legible than my chicken scratch. The company is sending out another order. Really can't cancel the order via CC if they are sending out a replacement.
After I get done with the Fed Ex guy, then I'm gonna see what I can do about the police cause one of my new neighbors is a thief. I just moved in 2 weeks ago. ![]() |

Well at least they look for someone to accept the package in your neighborhood and sign it, here I think they throw it from the walk way onto my door step then run...

I swear they have a weird policies regarding how they leave stuff. Once they left my monitor sitting outside my door without me having to sign it. Another time I had to go to the distribution center to pick up once piece of RAM from Crucial. Why??? |

A co-worker of mine lost a laptop in the same manner. Fedex had a waiver signature on file to leave all things at his door and someone took the laptop. Fedex did not seem to care that the previous resident is the one who signed the waiver. They were not much help until he filed a police report. Luckily HP sent another when they recieved the report.

I can't believe you could be held liable for something you didn't sign for. Let us know how it works out (and if you can find out which of your neighbors is a thief). Maybe you can ask the FedEx guy to describe how signed it or what unit they came from. I know that at my house, it's the same FedEx and UPS guys basically every day. They may be able to shed some light on things.

I have all sorts of stuff left on my front porch (UPS, FedEx, USPS, DHL) and none was stolen so far.
I buy most of my electronics over the net (except huge items such as HDTV) and a lot of the stuff sit there for a few days without getting touched. |
