As I mentioned before, I am a college student. This means I have a tendency to make stupid mistakes. Well, here is my all-time stupidest mistake. I was using Expedia Fare-matcher, like priceline only worse, to book a flight from Boston to Madrid. Being the idiot that I am, I typed in "BOD" instead of "BOS." That typo cost me 340 dollars!!!!! I am stuck with a ticket from Bodreaux, France to Madrid. I can't change it, I have tried already for 3 hours! The ticket is one of those non-refundable, non-cancelable tickets. I already thought about flying from Boston-Bodreaux, but that costs much more than a separate purchase of my intended itinerary. So basically, I am out over 340 and I am a poor college student, in the middle of final exams nonetheless, who cannot afford this mistake. I make 8 dollars an hour on top of having school and practice every day for 3 hours. Any suggestions/ways to make some quick cash to cover my blunder? I am quite the idiot, so I sincerely appreciate any assistance.

that's where those little mistakes just bite you in the ass ![]() anyway, is there any possibility of selling the tix on ebay or anything? the only problem might be that the name on the ticket has to match the person who's flying.... hmmmm. i don't know what other options you have |

I would probably call either Expedia's help desk or the airline itself. Since you are not specifically asking for a refund, but rather just a changed point of origin, they may be able to help you out.
I do have one question....how is it that you didnt see that it was BOD rather than BOS? When you enter in the information on the website, it normally asks you to confirm that the information is correct and gives you the full name of the city. I have never used the part of expedia that is like priceline, mostly because I hate priceline type things, but I would assume that it works the same way. Either way, you might be able to get out of it based on the fact that you were mistaken as to what you were buying. (That is assuming that for some reason they didnt have all the redundant screens that lists the trip you are looking for...its the way they cover their arse legally.) So I would call the 1-800 numbers. The sooner you start, the more likely they will be willing to do something.

I didn't see it because I was flying through the stupid thing. I previously submitted the same request at a lower price, and so I was (mistakenly) confident in my ability to move swiftly. I had a sense of urgency because priceline offered me a follow-up offer which had a limited window of opportunity. The best answer to your post, however, is that I was stupid.

Oh yea, I already tried for hours to get some sort of recourse but there are no options. I have spoken with the airline, expedia, and my credit card company. All three of them just say "sorry."

This is why you slow down when making purchase's. I always check everything at every confirmation screen, because I don't want to make a stupid mistake. Haven't yet, either.
