S: ill-mannered individuals

for most of the time, i'm well mannered, but i have really low tolerance for people with no manners.

as i recently posted, i'm the new coach for a women's high school vball team. the day before my first practice, the jv bball coach called me and asked me if i can shorten my practice schedule. i told him i can't b/c i need all the time to get the team ready. he was nice about it and thanked me. 2 mins later, the varsity coach called me and pretty much demanded me to shorten my practice. he said it was ridiculous how anyone would hold practice for TWO WHOLE hours. he then lied and said he ran it by the athletic director and he was given permission to cut my practice to 1 1/2 hours. i told him to get the athletic director to call me directly and we'll work it out then. i didn't get a call after that OBVIOUSLY.

it sucks when people just can't be well-mannered. a simple thank you or please would suffice. *sigh*

So you are saying that if they simply had asked you politely to shorten your practice by 1/2 hr you would have obliged? From the sound of it, its simply the fact that they feel that BBall is superior to Volleyball and thus, they should be in control of when they get to practice.

I would probably call the varsity coach on his crap by going to the schools athletic director and bringing up his remark. This way, you are showing him that you wont be pushed around and if necessary you can make a concession/agreement there, which will look favorable to the athletic director.

no, if they asked, i would have at least thought about it, and maybe worked something else out. but now, i'm just gonna be a stubborn a$$ and not be helpful at all.

I hate people that think that just because "their" sports team is more important than any other, they get the right to bully other teams and coaches around.

Like football teams in PA and other states that get to force band and soccer teams from their fields just because it's a "football town".

Heh, ah yes band. I don't think it's just in PA, if you're in band, you're probably have to come back to school at 5 or 6 and stay till 10 to get field time.
