S: forgetting your effing passport and having to drive to toronto instead of flying

muther$%^&#@!!!!

i set out to fly to toronto from kalamazoo, mi this evening. i checked in at the counter in kalamazoo and flew to detroit. when boarding the plane in detroit, they asked for a passport or birth certificate...which i didn't think to bring. it's just freakin' canada!!! they never used to ask for it. and you don't need it to drive across the border. AND they were supposed to let me know i needed it in kalamazoo.

so....i had to rent a car at 10:00 pm in detroit and drive to toronto. i just got here. it's 2:44 am and i have a 8:00 meeting tomorrow morning. dayummm.

AND I HAD FIRST CLASS TICKETS!!! and to top it off, my boss was with me. he told the agent, "well, since he can't use the first class seat, can i have it?" of course, he got it. lol. i prob. would have tried it also.

my last gripe is that i picked this hotel because of the free high-speed net access. wanna know how "high-speed" it is???? i'll show you....aaaarrrgghhh.....the lemonizer now needs an account and i won't get my account approval until i check my email....(don't worry shogun, i appreciate the effort and i'm not bitching at you!)

sigh.....hope my trip gets better.

anyhow, i'm only accessing at about 95k. i'm used to about 1.5m at home.

no. i don't have to drive back, thank God!

i have to add that i was supposed to be at the meeting at 8 and i got a call from my boss at 7:40 asking if i was ready to go. of course, my tired a$$ was still sleeping.

i made it to the meeting in time having cleaned up, shaved, drove to the meeting site, and had a cup of coffee.

it's great being a guy!

When crossing the border in Montreal, I showed my passport and my sister had to show both her birth certificate and license, plus they were checking the trunk of every car.

Crossing the border at Niagara Falls, they asked us our residency and let us through.

I've found customs at the airport to be the most thorough tho.

When I used to frequently fly from Chicago to New England for a past job, I made it my practice to have my passport with me. There were stories about flight diversions to Canada and people without passports getting getting hassled (even though they never intended to travel to Canada). When the job had me flying to Canada, I always carried my passport (even though not required) to be on the safe side.
