I want to smash my zip drive! I pulled an old external zip100 and tried to use it in win2k.
Go to iomega's site.
Search for Win2000 drivers...nope
Download NT drivers...dont' detect NT 4, so nope.
Back to iomega.com
Download DOS drivers...nope
Back to iomega.com
Found Win2k drivers-IN A 15M DOWNLOAD-ALL-OR-NOTHING FILE!!!
Throw CD accross room...think about picking it up...start huge d/l of Win2k drivers and swear to never buy Iomega products.
Wear sackcloth.
Weep.
Swear.
Wait for stupid 15M file to download.

Could be worse. At least its not the click of death.

This does remind me of an important point. When you flash your bios you do it under dos. Now windows me has dos removed and windows 2000 isn't based on the old crappy windos kernel. How are updates going to be done? Under a dos emulation command prompt? I know asus has a windows based bios update as Darth showed in his ASUS CUBX review. How about these other manufacturers-are they going to do the same thing? Eventually dos really is going to be gone-not hanging around like it is now.

Ummm, OK, try this:

1. Plug the Zip drive in
2. Reboot

That's all you have to do with W2K. Zip support is built into the OS. The 'driver' download on the Iomega site is actually those useless backup & disk copy programs.

I did say **external** didn't I? Yep. I did. No plugnplay on on old Zip100s. If Also, Win2k does not have a listing for iomega hardware in its profiles.

Al Gore got over 49 million votes for president. Since there aren't 49 million rich people in this country McAl got most of his votes from the "not-so-bright" masses according to ZenerDiode deluded notions.

Using your proof, CNN's exit polls in closely contested states, your theories are proved to be a load of stinking crap. Lets take a look at the exit polls and then analyze those results:

Taking a look at college educated versus non college educated we see in Florida and Iowa, Gore got slightly more of the college educated vote versus Bush {51%-46%}. Bush was much more likely to get the non-college educated in both of those respective states {55%-41% and 55%-44%}.

In Oregon Bush got slightly more of the college educated voters than Gore {50-45%}. Gore got more of the non-college educated vote than Bush {49%-45%}.

In New Mexico Bush got more of the college educated vote than Gore {53%-44%}. Gore was much more likely {55%-39%} to get the non-college educated vote in New Mexico than Bush.

In Wisconsin and the National Exit Polls Bush and Gore tied in the college educated and non-college educated vote.

Analysis: For non-college educated voters Bush and Gore received 2 states each of the 5 states we are looking at. For educated voters Bush and Gore got 2 states each.

Nationwide Bush and Gore each got the same share of non-college educated and college educated voters.

A more interesting analysis is the breakdown of educational attainment to refute ZenerDiode bull**** claims that intelligent people are more likely to vote Democratic.

In Florida Gore got slightly more of the non-high school voters. Gore also got much more of high school graduates than Bush {56%-42%}. For the some college people Bush and Gore tied. For college graduates and post college graduates Bush received more votes than Gore.

In Iowa Gore recieved more of the high school graduate vote {55%-42%}. Bush got more of the some college {51%-45%} and college voters {57%-41%} than Gore. Bush and Gore tied for post college graduate voters.

In Oregon Bush and Gore tied for non high school voters. Bush got more high school graduates (57%-41%} than Gore. For some college voters and college graduates Bush and Gore were within a couple pecentage points of each other. Gore received 53% of post-graduate degree votes versus 38% for Bush.

For New Mexico Bush received slighly more of high school graduate voters than Gore did. Bush got much more of the some college vote than Gore. For college graduate Bush and Gore tied. Post-graduate degree voters went much more often for Gore 64%-30% than Bush.

In Wisconsin high school graduates went for Gore over Bush 51%-47%. The some college and college graduate people voted for Bush 51%-43% and 51%-42% respectively over Gore. Post-graduate degree voters chose Gore over Bush 56%-41%.

Analysis: High school voters choose Gore over Bush in 3 of the 5 states we looked at.
The some college people choose Bush over Gore in 3 of the 5 states looked at with one tie and Gore winning this vote in Oregon.
College graduates went for Bush in 5 of the 5 states we're looking at.
Post graduates went for Gore in 3 of the 5 states looked at with one tie and Bush winning one state {Florida}.

Nationwide people with no high school degree were much more likely to go for Gore than Bush 59%-39%. High school graduate split their votes for down the middle. The some college and college graduates went 51%-45% for Bush over Gore. Post graduates 52%-44% chose Gore over Bush.

Remember this quote:
"that's treading on dangerous grounds, especially if you look at the exit polls and see how people with different educational backgrounds vote (i.e., see who the people with college educations and post graduate education vote for...no big surprise). Dumb people are exactly what drives the Bush vote I'm sorry to say. Heck, I'm glad for it really."

Now unless you consider college graduates and people with some college to be part of the "not-so-bright" masses ZenerDiode nonsential claims have clearly been refuted.

So at the very least what's supposely true of the Republican party is even more true for the Democratic party. That the "not-so-bright" masses as ZenerDiode disparagingly refers to low educated people are relied on by the Democratic party.

"Dumb people are exactly what drives the Gore vote I'm sorry to say" ZenerDiode should say. Yes its true.

Win95 was Plug and Pray. I remember buying all these ISA cards that claimed to be PNP only to find out they ment jumperless, or variable IRQ. Why do they LIE!?!

So far Win98 has been fairly good to me about PNP and sharing resources. I'm still mad that I can't control the fact that my Adaptec 2940UW is on the same IRQ as my ATI AIW 128. No matter how much I try I can get it to move without mucking something else up. I guess if it aint broke don't fix it...
