Oh My God. I have to reformat my HD because of AOL. I did everything (including calling AOL and reinstalling Win98) nothing works.

I am back now... I had to reformat my HD after my internet connection for all my Free ISP are damaged/corrupted after I installed AOL 5.0

Why did I do it? I was greedy for the 5,000 American Airline Miles when you sign up for a trial 500 hours of AOL.

Funny thing is that AOL internet does not work either after I installed AOL.

Oh well. I guess my laptop is running faster now with a clean Win98 on a clean hard drive. It is not worth the 5,000 miles though.

For those of you that want the free 5,000 miles... type FREE 500 MILES on the promotion code when signning up AOL. Good luck (reformating your hard drive too)... :0

Bandits- I have had so many problems with AOL 5.0 I am a Beta tester and I, for the longest time, had versions of AOL without the internet. It was so frustrating! Go to Keyword: Beta and download the version of AOL with the file 244.33 It is clearly marked and that Finally fixed my problem. I have a Dell Inspiron 3200, & I do not like it much Wish I had a desktop now. If you need more help with this I would not mind trying to help ya out. Jaychs2@aol.com is my email, drop me a line if you need some help.

Yeah, I agree. Screw Steve Case. AOL is just about the worst product or service associated with the internet...

i wonder how long it will take for microsoft to first buy out aol and time warner, and then integrate aol into windows, claiming that it is part of the OS. haha. "internet explorer is part of the operating system, just as the calculator and note pad are." haha, maybe the deal will be signed when microsoft gets its appeal through the supreme court.

i use roadrunner cable modem service, but i use aol still cause i have been using it ever since it came out. the only problem aol had given me was when i installed the new 5.0 i didnt realize the "setting aol as default email...etcetc..., so that left me with non working All Advantage bar when i use IE5.0 or Netscape... Aol is a program, that will definitely help the overclockers test stability, cause one lil instability, aol crashes, as mine never crashes after i got a new chip

i don't understand why you are doing this?? you are paying for both roadrunner service and aol?? what does aol provide that you cannot access on the web? you can use instant messenger to chat with aol users, you can even enter web chats hosted by aol via the web. i don't understand why you would pay for 2 services when one would suffice. what is stopping you from dropping aol? email?

Thumbs down

Thanks, Jaysnugs.

I think I will stay away from AOL for a couple of years (5+). I have already reformated my hard drive and I am not taking another chance to reinstall AOL 5.0...

I am not sure why the Senior AOL Technician didn't tell me that before? Hmmmm.... Oh well. Thanks anyway. Do they pay you for being a Beta Tester?

Listen to Coleslaw and get rig of AOL, you'll be very happy you did. Cut the apron strings and try the "Real" internet.

AOL SUCKS!

If any of you ever does service on puters for $$, let your customer know, if they install AOL SUCKS, you will not make a fix without a charge.

It screws up more than any program I know. It maybe ok if thats the only service on the machine, but if you load it after installing other ISP's, watch out.

AOL 5.0 messes up not only other ISPs but also other softwares that dial out using DUN. It is bad all around.

It was nice of aolhell to send me a cd case the other day. Of course I had to get rid of the garbage inside before using it.
Hi I'm evil Steve Case. AOL really sucks.
