ok, i straightened myself out. i guess atm is more efficient, but a sonet is actually better and more reliable, and wdm(wave division multiplexing) is better still and will be the standard in the future. i dont know how wdm works yet, but i know a sonet can diagnose problems in its circuit before they occur, and switch to an alternate channel and call for repair and you never know you have a problem. that is what airports use for communication, its virtually 100% reliable.

more research:
wdm allows you to transfer ip and voice data over the same channel, and it is/will be cost effective .
if this is not interesting let me know, i'll stop posting or move it to the hardware forum

Multiple T3s? Heck might as well get an
OC-3 or better yet an elusive OC-12. How's that for a fast internet connection.
