S: Loud Motherf****** upstairs

Back when I lived in Boston I had 4 roommates. Everybody had a different lifestyle, but we all were respectful of each other and were accomodating for different scenarios. Even the kids upstairs would respect us if we asked them to turn their music down a little.

I'm sitting here in my 2nd floor apartment and the asses upstairs who apparently just moved in, have been playing their loudass music for 30 minutes now. It is still early in the night, but there are children and probably a couple hundred other tenants in the building. This isn't the first time they've been loud motherbeeyotches. On weekends, we constantly here at least one guy playing what sounds like drums. In addition, they're running some sort of background music with it.

Usually I would ignore this, but it has gotten to the point that I need to do something about it before it becomes too regular an occurence. I have been contemplating just calling the cops (as I have done so many times before to other neighbors), but the cops here are pretty useless. Maybe I will go to the management office and see if they can give these *******s some form of notice to turn it down a bit. My last resort is to show up with a few fellow SoCal GotApexers and confront them with our intellect and good looks in hopes they will stop.

Ahh, the loud music has stopped. Now it's some terrible drummer. What would you do?

I'm opting for choice 4. Leaning a garbage can of motor oil against their door so when they open it the oil shall spill into their apartment.

Hopefully you come up with some really evil ideas! It really is horrible to have loud neighbors living above you. I live in an apartment complex with mostly old people which is nice and quiet. Now some guy person in above me who is either deaf or a total idiot. Not sure which yet. The music is so loud that it feels and sounds like rolling thunder above my head all the time.

Talking to them directly probably won't work, so I guess that I would go to the management office first. Then to option 4.

You are paying rent to the management company, and in return they are to provide you with habitable living space. Excessive noise can make a place non-habitable.

Call the management company and complain. Let them do the dirty work-- doing something youself will only create bad blood.

you gotta try at least once before you just jump to the conclusion.

if you just go straight to the management, they could just be like screw these people. can't even come up to my face.

i had the same situation...went and talked to the guys..introduced myself, they introduced themselves...and we were fine like that for 2 years. Whenever the got loud, I'd call them, and they'd quiet down.

No matter how much the other guys seem to be like a$$es, you never know...they usually are reasonable and probably just don't know how loud it is for other poeple.

You should go and politely introduce yourself. Voice your concerns and see if you can come to a reasonable arrangement on when they should and should not be playbg their music and instruments. If that doesn't work, inform your management company of the problem. If that doesn't work, find a place for the bodies and make sure you have safe transportation before killing them. You can't leave the bodies there as they would start to get freagrant after a few days and they would be found a while after not paying rent.

Maybe my advice wasn't the best given his situation. I tend to be overly cautious when it comes to approaching anyone including neighbors. A week after I moved out of my old apartment, a girl in the building was attacked, turned out by someone who also lived in the building. Also a few years ago a girl that was a temp where I worked was murdered in her own home. I guess I may have a certain degree of paranoia going on. But if you feel comfortable enough to approach your neighbors then try it first.
