S: McDonald's late night

A few buddies and I were walking back home from a bar last night and we were getting hungry. The only thing open was McDonald's, which I haven't eaten at in a LOOONG time. The lady says we're only allowed to order value meals... no $1 menu or solo items So i got a double cheeseburger meal and ate it... I can straightforwardly confirm that I will never eat a McDonald's burger again! So much grease, I couldn't believe it.

Next time I'm going home and making a bowl of cereal!

The thought of even going near a Mickey D's makes me want to .

That said, Mrs. Kevster secretly goes there sometimes when I'm not around.

Only extra value meals? That's shady. It's like they were trying to get rid of old fries or something. If they can make a burger as part of a meal they can make a burger to sell separately.

Only thing I'll eat at McDonalds is the chicken McNuggets. And only since they made them white meat only.

Oh and the apple pies are good too. So is that Hi-C Orange soda that they've had there forever.

What about Hardee's Angus "Thickburgers"...

BK is basically bitin' off of their success with Angus beef.

I strictly go to McD's for milkshakes; even that they can't get right, but when they do, they're good. I ask for strawberry and vanilla mixed, they give me black and white. maybe they're encouraging diversity like in that other S: thread, or i'm the only person on earth who orders strawberry/vanilla. I need my gained poundage to be the right flavor, dammit!

I don't eat at too many fast food resterants anymore. the main reason, the food is usually crap. I'd rather go to the local burger place than the corporate burger place. They usually care about you, your taste, and your health.

I heard on the radio this week that Hardee's has a new double burger (1/3 pound patties) that has something like 1200 calories and 100+ grams of fat.

Yup, a value meal with it costs $7.39.

I stopped in for 2 bacon egg and cheese biscuits this morning (1100 calories, 76g fat -- I just looked it up), and I saw their new burger:

2/3 lb MONSTER burger - $1 off coupon

I stopped eating fast food about 3 months ago and I must say that after missing it for about a few weeks - I started feeling sooooo much better. Everything is better without fast food.

Look at my post above.

2 Burger King breakfast sandwiches are 60g fat and 700 calories... 33% improvement over Hardees. I love the taste of Hardees, but I get by with BK breakfast almost the same (although I always crave more bacon egg and cheese)... BK for me from now on, but being on a tight budget, 2 sandwiches for $2.22 at Hardees is so tough to beat

My suggestion for you...

Eat a bagel from home with some cream cheese for breakfast....

At lunchtime, go to your local supermarket deli, get some meat and cheese, and make your own sandwich for lunch. $20 buys ALOT of deli meat that can go a long ways towards "lunch" on a weekly/bi-weekly basis.

Personally I find that McD's has the best fries out of the fast food places. I cant stand In -n- Out fries.

That said, during college and after I used to get physically ill if I ate McDonalds. A few years ago I finally was able to eat something without feeling sick afterwards. I dont know what it was but for a 5 year window it just didnt agree with me. I have also changed what I order from there so that could be part of the issue, no Big macs for me.

Another funny fast food note, I had never seen/been into a Taco Bell until my freshman year of college (1994). They just didnt have them where I grew up and all my new friends were amazed by my Taco Bell virginity.

I generally try to avoid fast food although this is how i break them down:

Mcd's: Tastes ok but seems like the crappiest quality
In n out: best burgers hands down, don't care too much for the fries
BK: best fries
TB: the mcd's of mexican food
Del taco: most generic food ever! The target audience - people looking for anything to eat late at night
Baja Fresh: now THATS good mexican!

list is too long

Honestly, there is no way that BK's fries are better than MickeyD's fries... Uhh Uhh

Now "onion rings"... well that's another story.

I used to work for a company that provided software to the largest supplier of potatoes to McDonalds (as well as several other fast food outfits.) They have mechanical/computerized fry sorters. McDonalds only gets the top quality fries, the rest go to places like Hardees.
