SS: Office Depot home delivery

On Friday afternoon we placed an order for a new legal filing cabinet and some adapters for it. The adapters were delivery only and since it was free delivery we figured let the entire thing be delivered...it would save us the hassle of loading it and unloading it from my truck.

While we were checking out it told us that the items would be delivered Tuesday...but that you would get an email confirming this. We figured that the few days wait wouldnt kill us, so we went ahead with it. Yesterday we received an email telling us that our order would be delivered today between 8:30am and 5pm. What a nice window right?!?

This morning I get up and hope that it will be delivered before 10:30am. I called Office Depot to see if they could close the window a bit, and was told that they couldnt. At 9:50 I decided to ask someone to do me a favor and come to my place while I am at the doctors office, so at 10:30am I leave but the "post is manned". When I get back at 2:30 from an 11am appointment I find out that the order still hasnt been delivered.

At 4:50pm, it still wasnt delivered, so figuring that there is only 10 minutes left in the window from hell, I would call them to see what the hell was going on. I call and get some completely rude and moronic individual who proceeds to tell me that the item will be delivered by 5. I proceed to point out that they now have less than 5 minutes until 5 and wanted to know WHEN and what happened. I have been waiting here all day at great expense to myself and it wasnt delivered as promised. The moron tells me that I am #20 of 29 and it will come. Then suddenly says that it will come tomorrow I ask her the same questions again to no avail and finally ask her for a manager. After 4 more manager requests I am royally pissed, so I finally just say, You havent answered my questions are illegally refusing to hand me off to a manager like i have repeatedly ask and are wasting my time, give me your damn manager. To which, she called me rude and then hung up on me. Oh, if only I knew who the hell that person was and where to hunt them down.

I call back and get another representative. This time, the woman is nice and tells me that its shows that it will be delivered today, she is sorry for the hold up, and has no way of contacting the truck to find out what is going on. So now, I have waited all day for a delivery that didnt come. If it doesnt suddenly show up before I have to leave, I am going to have to call back and give hell to a manager. This is really pissing me off.

I too was waiting for an Office Depot delivery today, but it was carried by Fedex.

An Office Depot CSR called me at 9:30am to ask if I would be home today, as today it would be delivered. since I placed my order only 18 hours before that point, I assumed it would be delivered tomorrow. I'm glad they called or I would have missed it! Staples and OfficeMax don't do that, and I'm kind of trusting OD from now on, but I'm sorry that happened UF.

I experienced the same thing when I ordered an LCD monitor from them. I will never use their home delivery again. I suppose it is fine if you are a business and someone is always there anyway, but it is unacceptable for us working folks.

My sister in law had the same experience on an item as well! She complained to the CSR, and said that it was a gift to her visting parents, who were leaving the next day. The fact that it was not delivered meant that she would have to re-ship it to them on the east coast. They credited her account $30.00 to cover the shipping! While that is no excuse for the poor service, it at least shows that some CSRs will take responsibility and try to make it up to you...

The damn thing still didnt arrive so at 9pm I called...was "accidentially" hung up on by a manager who refused to come to the phone until I told her she had no choice legally. At which point she said hello followed by a dial tone. Like I couldnt see through that ruse.

So I call back and get another manager, one who is willing to talk with me. She informs me that the shipment wasnt delivered because the delivery was screwed up. In other words, they failed to load in both things I ordered. Idiots. The manager tells me she has no power here and I will get a call from the delivery section tomorrow. (Complete bullsheite...shes a manager, she could have done something.)

Either way, I have her employee identifier so if its not resolved to my satisfaction tomorrow morning, I am going to try to make some heads roll.

Heh - I feel your pain! Office Depot is the ONLY company that has ever caused me to yell at someone over the phone. I experienced the same thing waiting for a desk to be delivered - it took THREE DAYS of waiting for delivery. That was about 7 or 8 years ago, and that was the last thing I ever bought from them.

Quit your bitching. If they can't get it to you in an acceptable time frame then simply cancel the order. Not too hard. Honestly man, this is really not worth getting all worked up over.
