Each religion has got their own way of making you feel like a victim. The Christians say 'you are a sinner', and you better just zip up your trousers and give the money to the pope and we'll give you a room up in the hotel in the sky.

For my one class I spent $120 on a book and the required study guide. Ack, I don't see how people can afford to take a full course load.

I am sure that others had this experience as well, but I used to have to buy $200+ in books for some of my classes, not including all of the special addendum materials that we would have to go to the copy center and purchase at $20 a pop!

I was one of those individuals who couldnt stand to buy a used book if it had any markings or use in it and as such I generally always bought new. As has already been mentioned, you never get anything near what you paid for the books when you sell them back. That said, one of the tips that these clean sweep programs are giving to people is to always sell back the book unless you are actually going to use it. Everyone always has some fanatasy that they will keep looking at/use the book but nearly no one does it. I have to admit, that I kept most of mine, but because I thought it would be a good library.

I remember a Senior Level Materials Engineering class I has that required me to buy a SINGLE book for $250.... It's on revision 80 something. It started back in the 1800's and has been updated ever since. Craptastic book I tell ya.

Welcome to college. Prepare for the rape on sell back day. "I spent $150 on this book, surely they will give me half that back..." Ah, memories.
