S: No one will hire me

I just received a call back from a company i was quite positive about. They just informed me that they want to hold off and talk to one more person. They decided to not even check my references. I don't understand this. My impression was that the interview went well and i should be a good fit for their company. What is really frustrating is that the SAME thing happenned to me with another company 3 weeks ago. And that time they hired the other guy. Things dont look good right now.

change your approach if you think what you are doing isn't working.
i am in a high demand job field where i can basically work where i want so i don't hafta go through what you are. i still have to be interviewed though, and i find adding some humor to the interview makes it goes easier for me and the person doing the interviewing. i know that is just a small part of what you are talking about but maybe it's a start.

good luck.

Don't become overly discouraged. This is very common.

You don't know what's going on at the company's end-- it could be they found someone internal to the company, or perhaps they interviewed someone before you and they wanted to review his/her qualifications one more time. It could also be that the other person had a slight edge in experience over you.

It doesn't mean you weren't right for the job-- it could be they found someone slightly "righter."

I've found that in interviews it's just as important to talk about what you are capable of learning as well as what you already know.

It was just bugging me, so i called my contact from the company again. Seems that my position went from immediate fill to we don't need someone till October. It sucks but i guess i can live with that. I just hate how stellar job interviews raise your expectations and then situations behind your control bite you in the ass.

So, if anyone knows any biotech companies in the bay area that are hiring, send me a message, a'ight?

Try not to be too hard on yourself. On a good note, at least you're actually getting interviews, so things will happen when the time is right. I'm in the bay area too and have some friends in the biotech field so I'll check with them to see if their companies are hiring and will let you know if they are. Good luck and keep your head up!

Hey, HmpDeeHmp, thanks for the interest. I've been applying to some more jobs and awaiting repsonses (if any). Looks like I'm going to have to bite the bullet and find a tech temp job for the time being. Blarg.
