S. Falling off your bike... and then hitting someone

So I fell off my bike. Wierd part is, in my descent, I managed to hit a pedestrian. She was distraught. I feel like crap.

Hmm thats kind of an odd one. But she wasn't hurt or anything? I think she will probably be ok, unless you left some tire marks on her. Maybe buy her a cookie to cheer her up?

She was a bit shocked and scraped her knees a bit. I should note that I was on bicycle not a motorcycle. I fell because the petal slipped out from under me while changing gears. I don't know which one of us has the worst luck.

Was she hot? Did you get a number in case she needed anything?

In her 50s didn't speak english. The man with her spoke with me. Note: Guys walk on the side of traffic so when bicylists fall out of the sky, you take the brunt of the force.

That has always been accepted etiquette for gentlemen to walk on the streetside of the sidewalk when they escort a lady. I believe it originated in bygone years, more to catch the splash from puddles caused by passing carriages than anything else.

I've been playing it over and over in my head... I realize now that I didn't hit her. What actually happend was I tripped off my bike in front of her and with the racket and suprise, she half fainted and fell to her knees. That explains why her husband carried her to the side walk.... things don't always make sense right away. I feel only slightly better though.

If it makes you feel any better, in elementary school I crashed my bike into a parked car. And in junior high, I crashed into a picket fence and broke two of the top pickets across my chest. In high school, a bus turned in front of me and I crashed into that at the crosswalk (I hit the bus, not the other way around, though I still could have sued for a lot if I wanted to).

Hmm, I wonder if that's why I haven't ridden a bicycle in a while.

Just a little bit scraped up. I fall off my bike about once a scholastic year so I guess I'm good for the year. Though seriously, with this falling rate, I should seriously consider abstaining from motorcylcles for life.
