SS: Jeanne's migration north

i'm in philadelphia and never thought we'd be so affected by these hurricanes. 2 deaths resulted from the remnants of jeanne here, along with other extensive damage and flooding throughout the region. one of the victims was waiting for a bus when she was swept away by floodwaters, and many others had to be rescued when their cars were halfway submerged. a couple tornados also touched down, one in NJ and one in DE.

i got a call from my dad saying his car stalled out after being in an area flooded in by the adjacent creek and had me pick him up at the place he got a ride to. when we drove back, the car was gone, but there was police activity there. we couldn't reach the officers, so we called the police dept. they said they had towed it to a nearby parking lot, which there was no access to from our side of the road, so we figured it'd have to wait until the next morning.

this morning comes, we go to the parking area, my dad's car isn't there, either. now he's starting to get frantic. apparently the police had no record of towing the car. 2 hours later, he calls me and tells me his car was located

in the creek, miles away from its originating point. as you can see, the car is done for. if his cell phone would've had reception, he'd have probably stayed with the car and called me instead of getting the ride and been taken into the swelled creek along with it when the waters came through. we are very thankful, but it still just sucks so much.

it wasn't a new car or anything, but it was in good condition and all he had since he can't get his other car out of the shop. i kept FL in my prayers through their ordeal, but now can truly empathize since i have seen and had a small taste of it. peace to you all.
