Could my first eBay experience go any worse?

I've posted about it in the Auto forum, but now the auction I was going to go in with my friend went bust too:

Auction Link

All 4 amps were GUTTED. The only thing that remained were the outer casings. All diodes, transistors, resistors, capacitors... gone I don't think they should be able to even list the specs, because these things can't output ANYTHING. So that's two auctions that went wrong. And my friend that got those amps is a pretty experienced eBayer too... but I guess we all make mistakes. I guess we'll turnaround and put them back on eBay (with a fair warning) and try to break even, but I'm just frustrated with the whole eBay thing that everyone couldn't believe I hadn't tried yet. I don't think I'd fall for a scam like "ATI Radeon X800 url" or anything like that, but it's the biggest example caveat emptor I've ever seen.

Dude, why are you going to put up something worthless on ebay. Your remedy is to try the best you can to reverse charges. What they did is illegal. If you sold it and didn't give a full disclosure (to the best of your knowledge) you could be held responsible.

"As is" doesn't mean they can sell you parts. That would be like me selling you a car "as is" and sending you an alternator... it doesn't matter if that part was the case or not.

And don't forget to leave VERY negative feed back. Say exactly what he did and people won't want to buy. If he hasn't left feed back for you do it on day 89 or something.

How did you pay for this item?

If you did PayPal, then I would file a "Buyer Dispute" form to get your money back. Yes, you bought it "As Is", but totally not functional is not acceptable...

Talk about a COMPLETE SCAM!!!! I'd be furious right about now.

Whatever you do... do not try to re-list this item. All you will do is piss someone else off and have bad things coming back. Try to rectify with the seller and with PayPal first.

no kidding. bring the heat HARD with this one. that unacceptable!

after looking through the negative/neutral feedback, it looks like he's taken care of some of his unhappy customers.

I would file a dispute with both paypal and Ebay's SafeHarbor. Don't forget to leave negative feedback as well so you can let other buyers know what happened to you...

I have learned that "AS-IS" on eBay is virtually the same as saying "DOES NOT WORK".

I heard if a seller has over 100 feedback and 90 something % positive rating, they qualify as places that are covered by PayPal... will definitely tell him to file the dispute.

I took a look at the amps today... just a casing and a plain green PCB

"AUCTIONDROP WARRANTEES AND REPRESENTS THAT THE GOODS ARE AS THEY ARE DESCRIBED IN THE ABOVE LISTING. WE WILL ACCEPT RETURNS OF THE GOODS ONLY IF THEY FAIL TO MEET THE DESCRIPTIONS ABOVE. "

If it fails to match the description, demand that they accept a return.

Probably good advice. Though it sucks when it's burried in the legal text.

Good find. Here's more:

"All items sold as-is. We accept returns only if the item was not as described in the auction. Buyer must return the item within 10 days; buyer is responsible for return shipping charges."

I'm sure you'll get your money back, but you'll have to eat the shipping charges.

i would try to get the shipping charges back. that auction was blatantly misleading and borderline fraudulant.

Notice the terms state you are only responsible for return shipping. Hold them to that.

If you fight this through PayPal, you can get all of your money back...

I'd also put in the flag to my Credit card as well (hoping that it was paid with a credit card here...)

Good luck fighting this, Auctiondrop is ebay's own service, that you drop your items off and they sell them for you.
