SSSSSSS: Stuck in Atlanta airport all night

I've been skiing in Utah all weekend, and my connecting flight back to Virginia is in Atlanta.

They cancelled ALL flights out tonight. Now, for those of you who don't know, Atlanta is a MAJOR hub for airliners. There are thousands of travellers stuck here, and the hotels are all booked.

All nighter here -- paid $10 for T-Mobile hotspot. WoW all night.

man that sucks, I missed a morning flight out of Philly once (woke up a little late and couldn't get transportation to the airport missed flight by like 10 minutes.) and had to spend all day going from terminal to terminal until finally at like 5pm Philly time they felt sorry for us and found us a spot on a flight. That sucked hard. So I feel your pain.

I have pictures and a video I'll upload later -- it was CRAZY -- I've been to Utah and Colorado several times in my life for skiing, but this one was the best.

I topped out at maybe 50 mph -- I live to ski fast but when your forum name is "ski" you gotta expect it

Airport going ok -- 6 or so more hours

Is there some severe weather or something that is causing the cancelled flights? Hopefully you are an upgraded member and can go rest in the admiral's club or similar such rooms.

Either way, sorry to hear that you are stranded. Just think of it as the price you paid for supreme skiing conditions.

There was heavy fog.

On my flight in, I looked out the window and thought we were in the clouds, and 2 seconds later *BUMP* we landed.

This is my first solo flight, so I'm sitting against a wall on the T-Mobile hotspot

You picked a great time to come to Utah, we've had great snow this year. In fact, it's snowing again now, so you missed out on some new powder.

Where did you ski?

When I was in college I would always have to change flights in Atlanta flying to/from Florida. Back then it seemed like the Atlanta airport would all but shut down as soon as a drizzle started. One time I was supposed to fly out at about 10:00 pm (on my way to Florida), and they just kept delaying the flight by 1.5 hours at a time until we finally left somewhere like 6:00 am. That was a bad night.

Well, they delayed my flight 30, 30, 15, 30, 30, 15 minutes (2 hours and 30 minutes), so I finally left about noon the next day. Ah well

man, i've heard so many good things about alta. i would love to ski there.

ok, actually, i'd love to ski anywhere in the rockies, away from the ice crap that is so prevalent out here.

ok, right now, i'd settle for any skiing, period.

Looks like I might miss this season. I'll have to keep searching the last minute deals and see if anything good pops up.

I have been able to make 6 days so far this season. Ok so 3 of those were in blizzard-like conditions, but my brother and I couldn't pass up 1-2 feet of fresh powder falling each day.

Merlin - let me know and maybe you and I can go somewhere for a couple days mid-week (like Mammoth).
