Entertainment book error

I took my family to Macy's because we had a 15% coupon. We spent about $400, I presented the coupon from my 2005 entertainment book, the cashier said, "it expired in 2004". Sure enough, the coupon had an expiration date of 12/1/04. I was annoyed because it looked like I was trying to put one over on Macy's, a little embarrassing. I just called Entertainment.com, they gave me a line to read the rules in the front page of the book. Ridiculous, whey would I expect to see an expired 2004 coupon in their book. Their customer service should be ashamed the way they handled my call. They should just say it was a typo and apologize but instead of admitting to a typo, they gave me double talk.

When was the book originally released? How much time did it give to use the coupon before it expired?

I'd say.... demand a refund of the book purchase from Entertainment.com if possible.

I demanded a new Macys coupon and of course won't happen. Mostly I was annoyed at the their response that I should read the agreement in the front of the book. I think the proper response should be that it was a typo and their sorry for that.

The Entertainment books come out in late September. Many of the coupons are good through November (I think) of the following year. However, some of the coupons are dated to expire earlier. If you bought the book later (into 2005), you probably got it a bit cheaper - one of the reasons is that some of the coupons are no longer valid. It's no fault of the Entertainment book. They are under absolutely no obligation to you if the coupon was dated to exire.

Eh, I just returned an Entertainment book which they sent me over a week ago. They told me that I signed up for automatic renewals, which I know that I didn't. Fortunately, my credit card company has already deleted the charge.

There are so many vendors in the book who don't honor the card once you go to their establishment that I always call before I go there. I don't know if it's Entertainment's fault or the vendor's fault. Anyway, unless the card is $10 or $15 total cost, I will not be buying another one.
