I ordered an Xbox 360 on 8/02/05 and was promised on 11/12 the release date... They took $50 out of my Credit card on that day... i got a call before the release date and they told me it will be on the second shipment. They promised me on the release date, we agreed and thats why they took my money out. I didnt feel like fighting and so I left it. He told me I will defnitely get it on the 2nd shipment which is a week before christmas. I went to the store on 11/30 and they told me that I will defnitely receive a week before christmas. I received a call yesterday saying that my xbox 360 is ready for pickup. I have to be other before 48hrs or I wont get my xbox 360. I went there today and they Tell me that they dont have it stock. WTF??
I received a call from them and they told me he does not know who called. The other guy asks him whether to bring the xbox and the sales guy is like NO... I already bought 5 xbox 360 games from there and I am going to return all of them. |

Sorry man
![]() Most corporate-level game stores suck. (especially now that EB Games & Gamestop merged into one gigantic pile-of-crap company) *sigh*I stick to the mom & pop/locally owned stores..usually get fairer trade-in value and more reliable opinions if a game sucks or not...ie "should I buy this"...the primary store I go to, the guy will tell you straight up if a game sucks or not. ![]() Sorry for your trouble though...I'd definitely go yell at a manager and request a refund; they've gotta at least give you that much. Maybe if you complain enough the guy will get one from another store or something for you (if you still want one). |

yeah...I'm planning on preordering a PS3, but I really don't know where to go, considering that preordering a xbox 360 this year from eb/gamestop wasn't necessarily a guarantee that you'll get it on opening day.

EB store employees and management will do whatever they think they can get away with, but if you feel you have been wronged, call their district manager. If he doesnt make you happy call their regional manager.
But for now, look at the bright side, sit out the 360 launch hype and decide if it is worth it or not after a few more games come out.

http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/04...s_6122418.html Well, at least gamestop bought eb instead of the other way around. Much better corporate culture. Only thing that sucks is that the games coming through the pike are going to be much more controlled a la clear channel. No big competition - no distribution links.

There's not many stores that do preorders (since Gamestop + EB merged), but IMO your best bet is Game Crazy (if there's one near you)...it's a small game store inside of Hollywood Video stores, and they're usually not as well-known (ie crowded/trafficked) as much as the aforementioned Gamestop/EB. And I know for a fact that they do take preorders on consoles and games. Most retail stores don't do preorders...Best Buy, Circuit City, Target, etc. but even if they did, I wouldn't trust them. I read something along the lines of a Best Buy store forcing people to pay $699 for the $399 X360 bundle because they said they had to purchase games + accessories along with it in order to get one. CompUSA might do preorders also...their console selection has grown quite a bit; I'd check there also. |
