I just bought a new hard drive and going to install it soon. What I was wondering was if I needed to do any formatting to the HD before installing it. It's going to be a second hard drive that I"m using for extra storage, so I won't be installing any OS or programs on it. Thanks

You can use boot up disk and from there, format your new hard drive. Don't forget to set it to "slave".

Thanks dodo,
I have one more question, and I hope I'm not asking too much, but I have 2 computers setup here, one is a router, the other is my daily use computer. My router is currently running on a quantum 7.5 gig hd, and my daily use computer is on an IBM 15.8 gig hd. My new quantum is the 30gig 7200 from buy.com. I would really like to have the speed of the quantum on my daily use computer, but I also like to have alot of space on my router so I can queue a bunch of downloads on that one without lagging my other computer. Where would you recommend I put the new HD? thanks! |
